We only have water and electricity bills (also council but I pay this monthly online) Since we moved in on 28th June 2012 we have had one (maybe two at most) electricity bills. The water usually comes through but havent had an electricity bill for ages.

I have asked our landlord to send us one a couple of times but have had nothing yet.

Is there any law against racking up a bill for tennants that is £1500 or something? We have been putting money aside but still dont want to get a 2k bill!

Why are you asking your landlord for a bill rather than the electric company?

We're with nPower, they were sending us a bill six-monthly and despite asking them a few times to stop it and send quarterly they never did, so I just set up a monthly DD instead, a lot easier.

Why aren't you dealing direct with the utilities companies, only way to ensure you get the best deal. It's frankly none of your landlords business.

Who's been paying them then? They usually get a bit upset if you don't settle bill quarterly or have a monthly direct debit.

Who's name is on the bill?

whos name is the electric bills you have got in ?

If its not yours or a house mates id lol, lol, lol myself to the pub with all that saved money :p

Yeah compare last bills meter reading with current one and prepare to evacuate your bowels

Its short term let appartment building that we are letting for a year. You can stay in our building for 1 night - the reason the landlord deals with the electric company.

We have a meter and its 16.7p per kw. I checked the meter and worked out at £100 a month for our large 3 bed apartment (no gas, all electric)

So is it the landlord who bills you by the kwh and he has not been doing it? (presumably he then pays the electric board and makes a little on top)

If so, what does your contract say?

Contract is rather general - about making sure all utilites bills are paid on time etc.
I have found an email from landlord about being billed monthly. Ive emailed landlord again
