Will be getting rid of my Vauxhall Insignia soon and want something a little smaller, I have tried a few cars so far but I can't make up my mind

Here's what I tried and thought of them:-

Mercedes A-Class - Didn't like it, it rattled, the screen was awful (like a cheap picture frame), didn't drive as well as my Insignia.

BWM 120D Sport 2.0 184bhp - Nice drive, good looking, not a lot of room in the back though I am 6'3", quickest of all cars I tested

VW Gold GT BMT 150bhp - nice car, a bit bland although has a lot of toys , smallest boot of all I tried

VW Scirocco BMT 140bhp - Best looking of all, great to drive

Going to try an A3 as well 150bhp not sure what spec though.

My company only do diesels so no petrol choices.

I am stuck between looks, power and toys I really can't decide so any help would be appreciated :D

1 Series is pig ugly. New A3 is a nice looking car, have a look at the Leon and new Octavia.

What miles do you do and can you take an allowance instead? If not, depends what spec A3 you can get imo but probably the 1 series. I don't think they're ugly at all.

Yeah, they are pig ugly.

Not sure WTF BMW were thinking with the design of that monstrosity tbh.

12,000 miles PA and I can get allowance works out around 6K PA before tax.

I am going to look at the A3's shortly, I do like the screen :)

I also like the look of the 1 series, guess we are all different :)

unfortunately it is far more ugly than that, looks are not the main priority when I pick a car but I really would not want something that looked that bad

I hear what you are saying but you are wrong :D

Do you prefer the 3 door or 5 door? :D

The Scirocco is many things, ugly is not one of those.

Not sure I'd have a Scirocco now though, as it's still technically the MK5 golf is it not? Getting a MK5 golf now (PQ35 based chassis), when the MK7 (MQB, same as the new shape A3) is out seems a bit... crap?
