Hi, im looking for a new desk and chair for my new build, anywhere good for corner desks and chairs?

I dont want to end up going to Ikea or Argos, I want a customize workstation maybe, add bits too it perhaps.

Probably best to scour auction sites, I dont know.

OK thanks

Do you know any joiners /wood workers? I I'm sure they would happily knock you a custom desk up, and you get to design it and use whatever wood you want.

I built my own out of thick mdf, Around 7 years old now and still solid (could do with a new paint job though) Go into B&Q and get them to cut the sizes you need and then just buy some fixings to put it all together.

Also Depending on your budget... Herman Miller chairs are great, expensive but will outlast a standard 50 quid chair at least 10 times over.

I bought a workbench from Ikea recently to use as my desk and it's been great. Easy to fix legs too and as the material isn't actually wood, cutting bits or attaching things for cable management has been a breeze. Sturdy too

Ikea all the way, even if you get a good quality table top or kitchen counter from somewhere else the choice of useful leg options they do is great.

My desk is an ikea one, and have my computer case in one leg, and a set of drawers as the other.

I've got a £50 faux leather chair that is still comfy and has lasted for years. Think it was a staples job.

Cutting bits was easy? I used a hole saw with thins on it so had to go through all layers from the top, not the proper way to do things but getting through that bottom layer wasn't easy.

OP: You say you want to customise, nothing better than Ikea for that...

ikea Malcolm chair. Bought one a few weeks ago and it's excellent. £125 but well worth it unless you want something £250+

The amount you pay for ikea desks are a joke, bought a galant desk rocked everytime you lent on it with my arms.

Bought some second hand desk off ebay £25, 100% better imo.

Bought a large desk from ikea 4 years ago, have moved a few times since then so it's been taken apart and put back together at least 3 times, it's solid as a rock. It has excellent cable management built into the legs as well.

EDIT: Just found it, it is deceptively big, http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/40111124/#/80115988

Trouble with IKEA is people buy the cheapest option then moan when the items start to deteriorate, spend a little more and most stuff there is very high quality.

hey thanks for the replys, appreciate it. I like the idea of the IKEA cheap large table and try to customise it, I want my new PC on the desk, not stashed away on the floor with the dust.
Ive been looking on freecycle, but i live in the middle of nowhere and I have no transport.

I did once have an ikea desk, the legs i screwed myself, it was cheap but effective

Dimensions im easy on I would like the L shape if I can, just for more space to hand, I think maybe ill go the basic workbench style, and maybe add some stuff to it, we will see. I have to make room for 24'' screen, pc, kb and mouse, mat joystick, laptop and associated paraphernalia that will accumulate.
