Hola

I dont often venture into motors cause I know nothing. My dad used to sort everything out for me cause he was a mechanic but he passed away a couple of years ago.

I got myself a 60 Plate Focus Titanium in an effort to keep my maintenence costs down. It was still under warranty and the dealership gave me a good service plan. I got taken for a ride, really, but first time ive bought a car and i didnt really research properly.

Anyways, it's become clear they stuck 4 crappy tyres with no life on as 10,000 miles later i need 4 new ones. I should have checked, i didnt, i know for next time.

*Anyway in an effort to not get screwed again, can i get some advice on what im looking for? What brands i should look at, rough prices? I think £400 is really the top end of my budget for this, is it too little?

*Also when i put my Reg in on tyre sites, it tells me i need 225/40R18 Y. When i look at my car, i actually have 205/55R16 V. Did they screw me with smaller wheels too?

Cheers guys.

I'd have though at least 17's would be standard on a Titanium, but the price difference between 18 and 16 will make you happy.

Put the size of your current tyres into these websites (mytyres, blackcircles, lovetyres etc) I'd expect decent ones to be £50-£60 in that size

I can't imagine you lob that thing around, these would be ample

I took that a while back. Can you tell from that angle?

Lovely, thanks for the help guys. Roughly how much should* fitting and balancing set me back for all four corners?

4 x 205/55/16 Continental Premium Contact 5's are £285 inc next day del. So factor in £50 for the fitting and you have 4 new, good tyres for £335. Not bad!

EDIT: Ignore. See below.

Actually, scratch that above. Tesco Tyres do:

4 x CPC5's for £318 fully fitted

or

4 x Goodyear Efficient Grip Performance for £292 fully fitted (plus quadruple Clubcard points).

I just got charged £20 for all 4 at the local Honda main dealer. I was having other work done too though.

Ok thanks for your help everyone :)

Continental Premium Contact 5 - 205/55 R16 V (91) £79.57 4 £318.28
HiQ Chelmsford - Premier Partner Saturday 03 August AM

Still kinda annoying after 10k but oh well!

1 corner was a little off, i'm hoping it was balancing. The car was serviced recently and they didn't mention anything to suggest otherwise.
