Hey guys well I came back holiday a couple weeks ago and started applying for some jobs again here and there. I applied two at McD, which I wasn't even keeping my hopes high, one got rejected but the other got accepted which was surprising it only take me 10 mins to get there and located along with other food franchises and I know it is very busy. Position is of Part-time Crew Member. So im looking for tips again from anyone who has worked in this position before and would love help from every1 else. It says that it will have 15 min OJE and 15 min interview. But im not too sure as it could be an interview only. ideas please guys?

Much appreciated

OJE = On job experience I think, where they basically assess you doing a job which the position entails. As for the interview just be confident and be honest as you can get yourself into a mess if you start BS'ing.

One would assume that to turn up, avoid drooling on yourself and/or falling head-first in a fryer should pretty much land you the gig.

Lol thanks for tht, yeh im gna stay positive, happy and try not make any mistakes, its actually next Friday so im lucky to have much time to prepare for it.

You got rejected from McD at the paper sifting stage?!

Well basically I applied a online application through the McD site, the one I applied for a differemt restaurant further away and it said I was unsuccessful. Few days later this one got accepted and they inv me for interview. sounds odd I know,

btw would it be a good idea to bring CV Resume to interview even though most of it was written in online application? I already have the right clothing/passport part ready.

They should have your CV themselves, but it wouldn't hurt to take your own.

I don't care if it's an interview for McDonalds - wear a suit and wear it well. For your tie use a proper knot (not one of those comical fat knots), and button the top collar of your shirt. Polish your shoes and basically look the part.

Show them you want the job as soon as they lay eyes on you.

Yes, take your CV, looks more organised, and means you can refer to it rather than having to memorise the lot (which you will probably forget bits if you're a bit nervous).

Wear a suit - even though it's not appropriate for the actual job, it shows that you're professional, prepared to put in the effort, and will set you apart from other candidates who haven't bothered. I don't know if I'd go for a tie as well, but definitely shirt/jacket/trouser/shoes.

For a job like this I would imagine they're mostly looking for personality rather than skills, as it's so customer facing, so make sure you smile, and be open and positive.

As above wear a suit, and just generally be open and chatty as it's a customer service role first and foremost.
As a complete side point is English your first language?

When I used to interview for McDonalds I basically just had a chat with the applicant for about 15-20 minutes and from that was able to ascertain whether they were a **** or would be able to do the job.

Its not a difficult job, just hard work so most sensible people would be able to do it with ease.

Not this!!

Make your sound way better then you really are.

Haha! Nah just be awesome, then the truth will get you anywhere.

The images in the post above are a pretty good run down on what to do in an interview. Impressions count, smiling, eye contact, and a firm handshake are very important.

I always go by the rule that the less time I selling myself, and the more time spent talking about culture, the job role and the interviewer, the better the interview has gone.

Wear suit, emphasise customer service experience, don't be afraid to come across as ambitious - if in 5 years time you see yourself getting promoted from fries to working at the till then tell them now - they can maybe fast track you.

It's an interview to flip burgers "Can you flip these patties when the light comes on and press the button to repeat the timer? If yes, you're hired"

Just humour the manager who will either realise it's a crappy gig and not take it very seriously, or take some sort of overcompensating pride in his job.

Wear a shirt, trousers, shoes. Act enthused.
Basically lie through your teeth when he asks you why you want to "join the team" with something like "I feel the fast food and catering industry provides key societal service and that mcdonalds in particular, with your excellent training and management schemes, I feel I could thrive in this fast paced environment and bring real value to the team"

Try not to laugh when you say that.

And if he asks "Where would you like to be in 5 years" don't answer "Burger king, it's better" even though it is, in terms of chain burger joints.
