*** League of Legends ***

Yi is still a weak pick overall despite his changes. As an assassin K'zix does everything he can do but better, same with Kassa to an extent (counters aside).
As a late game hypercarry Tryndamere stomps him due to his ult.

Not to mention composition problems, you pick him jungle and you just know Mid will pick a squishy assassin, top usually the same - afterall a 0 gold Taric can be expected to soak all the damage.

Fun for some solo stomping but doesnt seem viable to me, although im stuck in ELO hell so maybe at plat++ the team would be smart enough to build a composition around him and he becomes OP, who knows.

Had a game vs Yi just a moment ago. He stomped early/mid and ended up with 17 or so kills but was useless late game and we won the game with something like 15 kills less than the other team.

I find it easier to predict who you are going to hit now with Alpha strike. It is a little nerfed early game which will relegate yi to jungling only I think. Mana issues are still too much for laning yi. He still snowballs something silly though with alpha strike crits melting squishies and the CD reduction on basic attacks keeps him strong even without Highlander up. Ended up with two pentas in the 1 game I played last night after going 3/7 at one point, the last one being 1 vs 5. No real skill involved in either however - lack of enemy stuns/roots makes Yi unstoppable. He still dies horribly to most crowd control so likely will remain a pubstomper and not much more.

That's where the skill comes in. Like with all assassins you have to know when to go in because if you go in and all of their cc is available then yes you will get shut-down. But if you get your timing right you can come out with a penta-kill easily enough, this is the kind of thing that shows your skill level as you are able to track their cc and calculate whether you can go in or not. :)

Ah elo hell doesnt exist xD

Sure it does, my 75% of games having an afk or troll (or multiple) on one or both teams is 100% found in Challenger also, right?

Elo hell is only made by the players in it, then going by the fact you insist you are in it, it makes you just as bad as all those so called "trolls".

It doesn't exist. Simple statistics prove it doesn't. Blaming "ELO hell" for not rising in rank if a self fulfilling prophecy because it means you're no longer focussing on what you should be doing better and are instead focussing on what other people are doing wrong.

Considering there's 4 random people on your team and 5 random people on the enemy team it's more likely that the K'zix support will be on the enemy team then your own anyway. So while that might make it less fun to play game it won't cause you to get stuck.

ELO Hell does not exist, it is nothing but confirmation bias used by people who can't accept the fact that they are in the league they currently deserve to be in. Get better and you will advance.

I think you will find I did say -both- teams :)

I swear, all you do in this thread is say how you lose matches because of the team.

Its too frustrating not to vent, I know im not the best player but im for sure upper silver (hence being silver 3-2 for a long time until a few weeks ago, and even reaching gold promo) but for some reason the last few weeks have been hell.

Ignoring troll picks and even intentional feeders, over 50% of my games have had someone AFK on my team (initially or late, no difference), and i have had no games where the enemy had an afk themselves.
Then when you factor in the usual rate of loss due to the other circumstances mentioned (we all know what its like to find a duo who demand they go bot and pick something daft like Pantheon instead of a proper ADC, and they are last pick so you can do nothing about it).
If things are to balance out, im in for a hell of a few weeks sometime soon with a lot of free wins.

I mean, is this just a Silver thing or what? I never had this when climbing through Bronze even. Did I just get lucky to reach gold promo because I had a block of 30 games without a single AFK?
Whatever it is, its sapping, I love this game but when you keep getting greeted by the familiar announcement "a player has disconnected" over and over again, its enough to make the best players Rage.

Now with this in consideration, I dont believe at all the "elo hell doesnt exist" argument, its usually peddled by those -much- better players who can fly through a division even taking into consideration trolls, afk's and whatever else. For the rest of us, what can we do? the argument is always "oh if your good enough you can carry the entire team and you will be out of it" with an assumption your not good enough to be -whatever- rank unless this is the case, but then what about me? I consistently do the right things (or at least, compared to when I was in Bronze), I'm consistently the best (or second) on my team in terms of CS and KDA - and importantly when I have a bad game I dont completely capitulate like many players in this division do and become a liability to my team. I consistently take objectives and dont just aim to farm up kills and always pick a champ that suits the team comp (although this is hard in this division, try picking a jungler to go with some of the odd ass combo's you see down here that end up being half all in, half poke or other odd setups). Im not the only one, i've met lots who are exactly the same, but the disadvantage just one <swearie> of a player can give your team means that unless your significantly better then the division average, significantly being the key word, you end up stuck for long periods of time. I have no doubt that one day ill be good enough to do this myself, but in the mean time it is like banging your head up a wall.

Even ignoring the ranked league system, im just sick of having so many of my games ruined by bloody afk's! Its got to the point i'd take a useless feeder anyday, at least we lost 5v5.

-edit-
Take today's games. 9 played, 3 wins and 6 losses.
5 of those losses had an AFK/quitter at some point in the game now one of them we probably still would have lost due to our ADC being beyond useless but still, as a ratio its staggering and it really is the norm at the moment.

I would absolutely love Riot to bring in week++ suspensions for persistent afk/quitting but from what I can see its a few days at best.

If this is actually true and you are still losing games, you simply are not good enough to USE that advantage to sway games in your teams favour. Having a high KDA and CS is meaningless if you don't do something with it, that does not mean you just farm your lane opponent, you have to influence the entire map with that advantage.

League may be a team game but YOU are responsible for winning YOUR games.

Seriously, stop trying to magic up excuses for why you aren't winning games, if you are consistently losing games you are where you should be right now. I was in Silver for months before I started being able to carry games hard enough to actually make a difference, even then I STILL had losing streaks of 5 or more/AFKs/Trolls, it is just the way the game works.

Question, is your league name Alpherah as well?

Alpherah wait waittttttt, You're mid/upper silver and you think you're in elo hell, wow.

I'd have thought elo hell was like bronze, I started the season in silver 3 and it really isn't full of afk's and it was perfectly fine for me :P

I've been playing on my friends low silver account quite a bit recently. Like 20 games in the last 2 weeks? And there's been 0 afk players. A few dc's that have come back, and maybe 1 dc that hasn't come back but that happens on my main also. No troll picks or anything.

Alpherah, you're just a silver player at the minute. That's all there is to it. Yes, there are much better players who fly through lower divisions and that does prove that elo hell doesn't exist. If you were a better player you wouldn't be silver because you'd also be flying through the lower divisions. You just posted a load of sentences describing how you're better than everyone around you, but clearly what you say is not what actually happens in your games or you wouldn't be silver.

I think one of the hardest things about LoL is that it's so difficult to see skill in game. You can watch SC2 or an fps game and see insane skill very clearly, but with LoL all levels of play look pretty damn similar from the player's pov. That's why there's so many people like Alpherah who think they are better than they really are. It's hardest than most games to really see what you're doing wrong or how you can get better. My personal solution to that is just play the game more. You passively improve every time you play and if you look at people's profiles you will generally see a correlation between amount of games played and their league. I look at Alpherah's profile and I see 300 normal wins and 350 ranked wins. 650 wins in LoL is probably about silver level for sure, that's the average league for people with that amount of wins that I see personally.

I can also clarify that the majority of my time I spent in Silver (170~ games, starting at Silver 5 and going all the way up to and currently Gold 5) I never really encountered any "troll picks", more so some 'unconventional' picks at the most, but that's about it. Yes I also encountered a few AFKs and DCs but the only thing you can do is report them, you probably can't do nothing about it unless you're already ahead by a lot, but at the end of the day it's only a game, and if you carry on playing you're going to get better no matter what. I do admit that I was a bit of a hothead towards my team mates, and during the games I've played I've been issued with several warnings for verbal abuse/negative attitude and then my chat got restricted for 5 games and I've learnt my lesson; if I feel like I need to rage at people in the game then I'll just mute everybody on my team. Through all of it though I didn't even ponder in the slightest as to whether there was such thing as 'ELO hell', I just kept playing and I climbed, now I don't care whether I win or lose because I love playing the game.
