Design my Scottish Hollyday

Also remember you have 3 ferries to Mull.

Oban, Lochallan and Kilchoan

I suggest you go over by Oban and come back by Kilchoan, maybe even go to the most westerly point at Ardnamurchan and then to Fort William.

Its not far from Lochallan to Fort William if you take the little Corran Ferry (£7)

So, the route would be:

Glasgow
Lochgilphead
Oban - ferry to Craignure
Tobermory - ferry to Kilchoan (cheap)
Kilchoan - ferry at Corran (cheap)
Fort William

Its a better circle to take. The roads from Kilchoan to Corran are signle track 50% of the time but the views are amazing over to Rhum, Eigg and Muck.

good advice but think it would need more time than the op has!
fishnish (mull) to lochaline is the cheap one and closer to the corran ferry
kilchoan to stontian road isn't that fast, but very nice views, and after strontian, it's the same road as you'd be on with the lochaline route (can be driver fairly fast - watch out for locals!)
If you're going mull to fort william, lochaline is the fastest and cheapest route
the best thing about the wee boats is that they don't need booked

Okay, well I don't really know what to do then.

What would you do given I'll be waking up in Glasgow on Saturday, so I'll have the whole Saturday and most of Sunday to do stuff before heading home on Sunday evening to Leeds? At the moment those are really the only constraints. In glasgow Friday night and sleeping there and then home to Leeds for no later than a little bit past midnight on SUnday.

Whats wrong with going up to Inverness, out via Fort William, back via Aviemore?

Dunno, just people being negative on here about all the driving lol.

it's just when you involve ferrys into the mix you have finite timescales which aren't always possible with the roads/traffic!
you should just come to mull on the saturday and stay over night, then have a nice drive to ft william/inverness/aviemore/glasgow on the sunday if you really want, or you could just go ft william/glasgow if the weather is bad etc!
absolutely bucketing down on mull right now!

I wouldn't worry about it, once you get out the way these roads aren't that bad you can always take the fastest b road where possible. I often flit up the mountains for a random night/weekend drive, and tbh while I sometimes have no real destination I can always find what I'm looking for.

That was just out from Braemar, evening time on a weekend.

The only thing to pass me in the better part of ten minutes was one bus. If you can drive, you won't be held back much.

It's the best bit. It's awesome. Glasgow to Inverness and Inverness to Glasgow are both easily done in 1 day each way with a few stops.

With the views you get up here, the driving can be a pleasure.

Good I thought this would be the general consensus. THe only problem now is that I can't find a single place to stay on the Saturday night in Inverness :/

in inverness I would be tempted to go the b&b route, usually good craic and a good breakfast - trip advisor is your friend!

Personal opinion here, for me west coast scenery (plockton -aultbea-ullapool) is way better than Aviemore etc, u would also see Gruinard island which they used for anthrax testing, pretty sure u still cant go on it though they tried to decontaminate it in the 80s.

There are about 4 Premier Inns in Inverness. I stayed at one, was fine.

All 4 are 'unavailable' which I assume means fully booked.

Would you suggest just turning up to Inverness and going about until all 3 of us are housed for the night?
