It's time for my A4 to be serviced. I'm going to do this at home so looking for info on what oil to use and where to buy it for the best deal.

It's a 2005 2.0 140 TDI which I believe are quite fussy about what oil you use.

I'll be servicing every 10K as I'm racking up a lot of miles per week.

Any help would be really appreciated.

:)

Just take it to national tyres, they do an oil change for less than doing it myself, plus there's a 20% off code on hotukdeals. There's a few bad experiences so worth checking out what your local branch is like, mine is fine. They so me an oil and filter change between each proper service for £40.

I rely on this car for a 450 mile weekly commute so there's no way I'm taking it to a crappy chain to do the work.

I'd rather take it to the main dealer!!!

Audi have some sort of reasonably priced fixed price service thing going on at the moment. I'd probably just do that.

Oh right, didn't know that. Thanks for the info :)

I do the same miles, so usually around 2 specialist services a year plus a quick oil change, never had a problem.

Did mine the other day.

You won't need 3.8l as the book says. When I filled mine I didn't need more then 3.5 I think.

The nut on the sump has many threads so takes some time to get off.

With regards to oil just use anything that meets the VW standard. I think 507 00 off the top of my head but check the manual.

Put thread lock when you reattach the bottom tray. Mine managed to work off even when fully tightened.

The filter is long and has a plastic guide with rubber on the end on mine.

By far, it was one of the easiest oil changes I've done. No issues at all bar the screws working loose.

... Compared to the 106 where the stupid dipstick broke off.

P.S. It's bloody heavy up front so use axel stands and a very good jack.

And I reset my indicator using VAG-COM. It then takes a few 100 miles before it works out your next date.

Take it you've never been into a Lexus dealership then :D

That's how Audi have gotten their customers by the balls. Complete delusion and excellent marketing.

That was very much tongue in cheek, I can't stand the dealership "experience". Mine do a good wash though :D
