hmm hadn't read that. well, if you want him, stump up the cash (and the cash for modric lol)

talksport got a rollicking (though it was kept undercover) over their bale story yesterday. i don't think they can mention his name for the time being and have been referring to him as ''the big name player linked with a move away'' whenever the obvious comes up.

Surely in this case 'trying to find a solution' means trying to pay as little up front as possible and then paying the rest off during his contract every time they get a windfall from TV money?

Midfield rumours:

Talksport are claiming that United have 'registered an interest' in Saphir Taider of Bologna. The Algeria international is only 21 but is being valued highly after proving his worth in Serie A. "I've not heard from Inter," agent George Atangana told the Corriere di Bologna. "I have been in touch with other clubs, like Manchester United, though. I told them to directly contact Bologna. If Bologna value him at €18m, then how is it possible that they are paying him as if he is worth nothing? He deserves more money and I wouldn’t be doing my job correctly if I didn’t ask Bologna to improve his agreement. If a club like Manchester United is interested in one of your players then you have to give him what he deserves if you want him to stay. Right now, Saphir is not happy."

Italian midfielder Claudio Marchisio has refused to rule out a move away from Juventus following reports linking him with United. Speaking to Tuttosport, he said: “I spoke with Juventus and they told me I'm still wanted. My desire is to stay here and win more trophies. Then again, you never know what will happen in football. I would not be the first player to leave his boyhood club.”

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has insisted that Luka Modric is not for sale under any circumstances after confirming talks are underway with Tottenham over Gareth Bale. Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, he told reporters: “It is not true that Modric is going. He is a very important player for us and he will be here this season.”

As ever the Daily Star are on the ball:

I dont see Ronaldo coming back to Manchester United, I'd love to see him back in the premiership i just find it hard to believe RM will part with him.
Man Utds biggest signing is Berbatov at 30.75M, they offered around 40M for Fabregas, Ronaldo is worth well over 80M if Bale is considered around that price, i just dont see Man Utd parting with that amount of cash on one player (even though he is IMO the best in the world) let alone RM letting him go.

That Diego Costa had a bit of a goal scoring run when Falcao had a rubbish spell last season but I never rated him when I saw athletico play. Strange signing if he came to Liverpool.

The only reason for it would be his apparent unhappiness at Madrid and the fact that they won't want to let him run down his contract any more. He has 2 years left and they will either have to accept a lowish offer next year or let him go for free the year after.

He is a huge drain wages wise I would think and they are trying to get Bale. I still doubt very much that it will happen but I live in hope.

If he does leave, the pressure on Bale to take his place and replicate his form will be immense.

The scouting dept must have seen something in him, lots of 'experts' say there is tons of room for potential. Quite like the look of him to be honest.

His scoring record isn't great and he's rarely played for Brazil who don't have a good striker :D

You never know though, for 22m you'd think you could tempt Michu to move.

They wouldn't fork out for Bale only to sell Ronaldo though :/

Thats why i think its silly of them to fork out on Bale in the first place.

Unless they knew he (Ronaldo) wanted to leave..

Though the Could play them both and have them switching wings, though £160m+ for two wingers..

Costa was easily the most disgraceful player in La Liga last year and is just as bad a diver as Suarez. Anyone who wants him at their club is daft, if he did half of what he got away with last year in the EPL, particularly with more attention to be paid to incidents missed in games and seen by refs this season.... Liverpool will be remembering the good old days of 8-10 game bans ;)

With Bale, again when people get creative with accounting they can justify just about anything... look at the banking industry as long as it SOUNDS better you can sell the idea.

Call it 105mil and assume that includes to players they bought for 30mil and its 50mil cash upfront. They've paid for those players and will spend anything from 40-60mil on wages for those two players in the next 3-4 seasons. So a creative accountant would sell that as saving 40-60mil by getting two players who won't really be used off the book. Likewise they know their value isn't actually that high, one of them because he's just crap, the other because he's not wanted (but much closer to full value than the other). They can suggest that it would take 100mil cash to get Bale, or 50mil + two players, who in the real world are only worth 30-40mil between them, suddenly they've effectively saved 15mil on the total value of the deal by(much like Spurs have on Bales) exagerating what the players are worth.

You can also spin it both ways for Spurs, they get 50mil for a potential star and 2 top notch players. In reality they'll get 50mil... + 2 players on huge wages, so a significant amount of that 50mil would realistically be accounted for in paying those guys double the wages other players at the club get over 4 years... leaving them with one very good winger, one rubbish left back and no Bale.

Personally I'd take 50mil + Di Maria and no Coentrao, the deal might appear worse but it leaves them with more actual spending power with Bale gone.
