What new company car to get???

I guess If I want to blend in with all the other cars on the road you can get a Golf or the A3, hey are both quite bland.

The scirocco is the best looking of all of them, simples! Although I will say the visibility was poor, only 4 seats but the most comfortable for me.

That's an option, although I always return to the fact that a company car is easy, if it needs Tyres they fit them, broken they fix it.

then use the allowance to lease a fully maintained car or lease a non maintained and put so much a month away for maintenance

Exactly, either put up with a bland car and be annoyed every time you have to drive it, or get something you actually like and it might cost you a little bit every now and again!

Not sure how the BMW stacks up in comparison but the GT trim on the new Golf comes with a remarkable amount of kit as standard like Sat Nav that tends to be an option on other stuff IME.

It might not be the most exciting choice there but it wouldn't surprise me if it was the best specced.

Golf had loads of kit, Parking Sensors, Sat Nav etc and Witch craft where it stopped the car by itself!!!!

BMW has a very extensive options list :D

Looking at leasing it doesn't make sense for me unless I go down the manufacturer finance with option to buy schemes otherwise it will end up costing me money, there isn't much of the allowance left after the tax man has his chunk!

depending on how your mileage works you will probably get most of the tax back as MAR, you also need to factor in the tax on the company car

if your allowance is £350pm+ before tax I would take it every time over the list you gave

It's £450pm+ before tax, although this would be taxed at 40%

I don't do a lot business mileage, in fact over the last year I have done nothing, I used the train instead, only visits have been to London so easier than driving :)

So I had a look at 4 convertibles today, I am looking to buy second hand not new, up to £15,000

BMW 3 series M Sport 325i
BMW Z4 2.0
Mercedes SLK
Audi A4 2.0T FSI Sport

Anyone have any experience with the running costs and pitfalls of these cars?

Forget the A4, its a very old design, basically been around since 2005. My bet purely on looks and engine would be thhe 325. Merc is too hair dresser ish.

How about a Boxter, would it be a total nono at that price point?

I haven't had a look at the Boxter not one for sale in my locality but would be worth a look, I can get a average mileage 2007 model for £15,000.

What are they like for running costs, my assumption would be high? :)
