Did Arsenal sell one of the best strikers in the world for less than Tottenham are paying for Soldado. He has 2 years left and would leave for free at the end or command a drastically reduced fee next summer. Personally I would rather sell him now rather than lose him for less in a seasons time.

I'm sure I have said it before as well but I can't see Bale and Ronaldo playing that well together. One will have to defer to the other and that is both players strength. The ability to win games on their own, bang free kicks in, take the selfish option.

That being said, I still can't see it happening for United. Why wouldn't PSG, monaco etc get him. They would certainly be able to pay more.

Rumour is that Brighton are looking to sign Newcastle youngster Adam Campbell on a season long loan. We do need a striker, with CMS inured until October, and Hoskins out for the season, possibly having to retire.

I would be happy with that, as he seems to be quite highly thought of. If we do get him, I just hope we pay the fees on time, as the default payments could cripple us!

Yeah. but I'm counting value as a deciding factor :p Did Varela actually go out on loan? I'm assuming he's not going to be first team squad next year.

There was talk of a loan but I don't think it's finalised yet.

Heard some really interesting stories about Moyes sleeping in his car though, so kinda makes up for the complete lack of midfield signings yet again.

Window isn't shut yet. :(

Hopefully something will happen soon.

Sky sources: Newcastle agree fee for Lyon striker Bafetimbi Gomis

More French players! :p

What is it with Newcastle and French players? It seems like the majority of their signings have been French the last few years, they have signed a few good players but is their whole scouting team based in Paris?

I don't think it's a terrible idea, it seems most of the French clubs aside from PSG and Monaco aren't doing too well financially so you can get their players quite cheaply, and they aren't half bad.

In other amusing news, it sounds like Wenger has basically said he doesn't need to sign any players and there isn't anyone better than the players he has.

Arsenal fans will love that.
