Top Gear (Series 20) Returns Sunday 30th June 2013

I think the 911 visually has changed.

Okay, the "911" shape has remained unchanged but it's evolved. It's grown up and become muscular in all the right areas, it looks tougher, like it means business and fits in well with modern times. An old 911 doesn't have that same feeling IMO even though the shape is all 911.

Why change something that is a winner? Just evolve it slightly so it's better in small areas here and there.

I agree, they all look awesome to me. Still i can understand what Clarkson was saying and why some people would think that way.

I actually prefer them from old to new.

The 911 is a classic and timeless shape. Sure, details have changed but there's no mistaking what car it is. Can anyone think of any other vehicle that has such an iconic shape that it's lasted this long?

Nothing has. That's why people keep taking digs at the 911, because there's nothing else to dig at it for. Clutching at straws and all that. It's quite an achievement, to make a car year after year for the good part of a century and it still be extremely popular and iconic.

Absolutely, and if you took someone out of 1960 and showed them today's 911 and asked them what car it was they'd know!

Personally, I love them. If I ever came into big money it would be the very first thing I'd go out and buy, and I wouldn't even care which exact model it was. I'd just walk into the showroom and ask them which one I could drive away there and then :)

Indeed, all I know is that if I ever find myself with around 80k lying around then a new C4S is is definitely the car I want.

Just look at it, I mean seriously look at it. How can anyone say anything negative about that?!

VW Beetle, the unsquashed 911

It's remarkable how much Porsche have changed the 911 while keeping it very recognisably a 911.

Looks wise, like he mentioned. You cannot deny that.

Of course I can deny that, becuase it's obviously complete rubbsh to suggest that in 40 years the looks of a Porsche 911 have not changed 'at all'.

The fact you can tell the difference between a 1973 and a 2013 911 at a glance is proof enough of this.

Where did i mention 'at all'?

I am just saying i understand where Clarkson is coming from on the design. I never said it was a bad thing, i like all 911's as mentioned.
