Giving this fitness thing a try - tech toy!

Hes totally hijacked the thread.. This isnt the Rats thread.

His first post would have been adequate.

Says this isn't the gymrats thread - posts a typical gymrats thread response.

Nothing wrong with Psycho Sonny's posts, at least he's contributed to the subject at hand unlike some others in this thread ;)

Just don't get why people feel the urge to tell them they have wasted their money..

It's merely advice, good advice at that. People say the same things about unnecessary supplementation, pussy pads and lifting gloves but don't get told to shut up. I welcome this sort of advice as even though it may seem a bit "lol hahaha you wasted your money!!!" the chances are it might make someone reading the thread wondering "Hmm looks good" think twice.

If it helps the person to get motivated (which the OP suggests) then it is worth the money.. £80-100 to get motivated enough to start getting fit is not a bad price.

To be fair, if such a device existed that could 'understand' a proper weight training regimen I would be all over it! We're all nerds here lettuce beef reality. I've seen some crazy ECG type contraptions that are useful for lifting heavy ass weights but they're a long long way off being a consumer product.

As it stands these only monitoring cardio (and quite vaguely tbh) makes them completely useless to me.

are you serious about the £90 scales?

what do you think the real benefit of them is over a set of scales from argos for £4 and a mirror is? apart from they look better

Read the description.

Yes, I'm half joking.

Wonder how much you spend on crap that I could pick apart.

I would be interested to know how well the sleep quality/monitoring works? Constantly being told how important a good nights rest is I would be interested in seeing how that actually correlates with my training.

i try not to buy crap tbh.

i'll even tell you my last 5 fitness related purchases.

Sample of 6 Protein Powders from gonutrition - £4.99 including delivery

Polar FT7 - Heart Rate Monitor - £70 ish including delivery (rrp £100+)

NordicTrack T19.0 - Treadmill (rrp of £1600) - £900 after cashback from restylefitness for the home gym

aasics running shoes for my specific foot strike - £110 (rrp £130)

under armour fitness clothing from m and m direct - can't remember the exact price but it was probably 50-75% off what it sells for on the high street.

im willing to bet £90 all of them are far more beneficial in regards to fitness than a £90 set of scales

if you do not think i am well experienced in terms of fitness equipment please take a look at this

I don't care if you're a gladiator. My point is I've no doubt you've spent a fortune on cars/stupid graphics cards/fags/booze/Christ knows what. I'd consider that crap.

But we're talking about fitness in here, so his arguement is completely relevant. You are actually derailing your own thread :p

Have to say, have had my jawbone up bracelet for about a week now and its really made me change my habits especially my sleep habits. Finding that i go to bed a bit earlier than i normally do and also watching what i eat far more carefully. Already lost a few pounds too.

On an average day im doing about 15k steps, even at the office im walking round more often whereas i used to sit and laze. I try not to drive into work that much but if i do, usually end up going for a long walk after ive eaten so its all working out nicely.

As for the people still having a pop at us for buying such gimmicks??...seriously get a life, like i said before its our money and we choose to spend it the way we want...sad losers who have nothing better to do but to criticise what we or others haev purchased. We get it, you think its a waste of money now go and preach to someone who cares:p

In fact ive got both my brothers to buy one and a few other mates as they were really impressed by what it does. Of course its not going to turn me into a beefcake but honestly thats not what i want to do anyways...havent got the time, effort or energy to go gym and neither have i got the space in my place to put a personal gym in there.
