This morning when i woke up and turned on my computer i was graced with a bsod at the windows logo, The problem is that the bsod is so fast i cannot see the error codes, I tried startup repair and restoring to a earlier point and still the same results, I cannot enter safe mode as that bsod's aswell, I have ran a Checkdisk on my hard drive and that passed everything, I havent installed anything new, I ran the system repair again and this time it didnt manage to finish and this came up as a failure

Repair Action: System files integrity check and repair
Result: Failed. Error code = 0x490
Time Taken = 363327

When i turned on the computer for the first time this morning it was booting from the wrong hard drive so i swapped it over, I did nothing different last night to what i normally do, Watched a few episodes of Star Trek and then scheduled the computer to turn off at 4 in the morning, I have ran a memtest and no errors were found also and to be on the safe side i also booted with just a single stick of ram and that failed on both sticks individually, I took some vengeance ram out of my spare computer and that also failed, I dont know what else i can do with this, Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Have you tried unplugging all USB and PCI/PCI-E devices? You might also want to try a CMOS reset on the motherboard. I've seen errors like this crop up with a faulty USB mouse.

I just gave that a go and unplugged everything and did a CMOS reset and still nothing, i cant remove the PCI-E devices because i dont have onboard graphics but i just swapped in a spare 580 which i know works and still the same, Other then the graphics cards they are the only things plugged into the motherboard :c , Didn't expect to wake up to this haha

I did read on another forum, that "Error code = 0x490" can also be associated with the background services running in windows start up. But can be a long tedious process to find which service is corrupted/causing the problem.
So maybe a fresh install may be a better and quicker solution.

So i gave up and tried a format and well...Ehem its freezing at 69% just doesn't want to go any further haha

Run memtest, although this was for XP I had problems before reinstalling windows on a friends laptop. Would get stuck half way though. Turned out to be a faulty stick of memory.
