Hi,

I am in need of two new front tyres for my car as one has a large nail which cannot be repaired.

I have looked at getting Goodyear AS2 but struggling to find anywhere that can supply them in my size the couple places I have found who sell in my size are all on back order, is there other tyres which could be recommend which would be as good as the AS2?

Or if someone knows where I could get some AS2 tyres from that would be great.

Car is a Jaguar XJR.

Thanks.

Hi,

Sorry for bringing up an old thread but it seemed easier than starting a new one.

I am in need of 2 tyres for the car above, Ideally I would like Goodyear Eagle F1 AS2 but no where seems to have them in stock for this size.

My problem comes from the fact 3 places now have said I have to fit J rated tyres because of insurance purposes, am I assuming correct in that as long as they are the correct rated tyres then insurance wouldn't have a problem?

Since I can't find AS2 I am now either stuck with 255/35ZR20 DUNLOP SP SPORT MAXX XL JAGUAR (Good tyres?) or if someone else has a good tyre I can fit that would be great. I would prefer Premium tyres max price £300 a tyre.

Thanks.

Don't think insurance will care at all! If the tyres meet required standards, and are of a sufficient speed rating for your car, they are fine. Can't see why they'd need to be Jaguar approved, apart from possible warranty implications?

As for tyre recommendations, there doesn't seem to be much choice in that size.. Michelin Pilot Supersports probably the best, but if you want to stick with J rated then it just seems to be the Sport Maxx or Pirelli P Zero (of which there is 1000000 different models, so no idea if the available one is any good!)

Why do you need 'stock'? In 7 years of buying large size tyres I have never, ever had a local place with tyres in stock, they've always had to be ordered in. Just find somewhere to order them in for you?

I found that most places don't keep stock of good tyres from major brands. Everyone is cutting back and all the usual places I tried had to order the GY EAF1's I wanted and I tried about ten places within twenty miles. All they stock these days are cheap 'ditch finders' is 'small car' sizes. Anything remotely premium or non standard had to be ordered.

Sorry when I said that I meant that the couple places I tried state they can't get the AS2 at all in that size (Camskill and F1 Autocentre).

I run these on my XF S and have never had an issue with them. I've never had any grip problems or felt like I was reaching the limits, they're good in the rain too. They're not amazing in cold weather, but that's why we have winter wheels & tyres :)
