New HIS 7950 IceQ Boost Clock 3GB - overclocking it

With my CPU OCd to 4.5GHz and GPU at 1100/1400 my 3dmark11 score is around 9.5k, just a reference for you OP :)

Im getting 9.25k with my cpu @ a modest 4.3Ghz and my GPU @ 1100/1350. Temps dont go above high 50's. Happy with that, I will overclock further in the future if need be.

That's weird, I had my HIS Iceq2 bosst running at 1000 1400 and after seeing this and dropping it to 1000 1300 seems to have gained me a few frames in FarCry 3. Cracking card so far, not touched the voltage.

I tried upping my overclock to 1150/1400 and it crashed and exited out of the test due to a driver failure etc. :(

Do I need to adjust the voltage? I have already moved the slider to +20%

You could try to up the voltage, my card started getting artefacts after my memory got any higher than 1425, you could just be hitting the upper limits of your memory clock - increasing the voltage could help stability :)

Should I need to up the voltage though if the slider is at +20%? Would it just be the memory voltage I would need to up?

Sorry I am pretty new to Overclocking GPUs.

mine is 1150/1575 stock volts

Lucky git :-P im 1200/1425 on stock, just received my 2nd gpu (with lots of free games.....and haribo) so time to see what I can achieve on this on (no crossfire results untill I can get a psu that us sufficient lol)

Additionally if you really want to - the his software that comes bundled isnt actually that bad tbh - no limits on core and memory clock, each time u hit the max it increases itself - however I did notice this also applied to the vcore so be careful their

Hi all I've been following this thread with interested. I too am running his ice q 7950 s ( well not fitted the second one ) and must say I am a total noob when it comes to over clocking. Now av I got this right or am I way off the mark..
1, install MSI afterburner.
2, adjust the clock sliders to set your over clock.
Now after each increase in clock speed do you test your card using a benchmark program
Also I've read its fine to set power to +20%....
Would it be best to set the fan to auto?
This might sound stupid but once you have got a stable over clock av you got to make sure afterburner is running for the over clock to work or once you've changed the clock speeds do they stop at that.
Slightly off topic but if want to over clock mycpu what would the best way to do this.?
I apologize for some of the questions but I am really clueless when it comes to over clocking...

Mines at 1150/1450 with +10 (reading about don't know if should just change this to +20?).

First time I've ever seen it go into the 70's this evening, but my house is bloody hot and my motherboard is reading 41 when usually its about 28-30!

is 75degrees safe for one of these cards?

That temp is fine I believe. I OC mine on air at 1150/1300 with AB mainly to smooth out my heavily modded skyrim. In this weather I am getting 60-65 although I have had it up to 70.

Hi, new to over clocking so this might sound daft but if you are running crossfire and you use afterburner to over clock when you change the clock settings does the over clock apply to both cards or do you have to do both cards seperately?

I OC Gpu1 then save to profile. Then just select Gpu2 and apply the saved profile. Then test to make sure they are stable, as one card may OC better than the other. You just have to find the balance for both cards in xfire.
