Hi all,

Does anyone know what Msi are like with honouring warranty on a 780GTX if you fit a water-cooling block? Need to know as I don't want to lose my warranty altogether. I like quiet so would like to do this but....

Any input guys?

Msi used to be 'cool' with it, but recently I've been hearing that they put void if removed stickers on the screw heads?

I rma'd two msi cards that had the blocks fitted, both were sorted without issue.

If you bought it from here, there's no problem.
If you bought it elsewhere, fingers crossed :)

Thanks guys you have put my mind at rest - was thinking of this block:

What do you reckon guys?

Very, I had aquacomputer blocks on my 7970's, brilliant performers.

Look around on YouTube, sure a video is kicking about showing the full manufacturing process for an aquacomputer 480 block, shows the kind of standards they work to :)

100%

They are beautiful waterblocks.:)

Thanks kindly for your encouraging input. Now I will have to start saving my pennies for it. Kind of worried about fitting it though - never done this before, but am currently watching a few vids online about this.

Cheers guys :D

Take your time and you'll be fine, the first full cover block I fitted took me over an hour, now its a 15-20min job :)

Very sensible advice me thinks - I certainly will take all the time I need as I cant afford to junk the card, heaven forbid. Btw looked at the video of the making of these blocks and it is amazing the technology being used to make them - well worth a watch, it is an eye opener for sure.

If you can use a screwdriver and are able to put paste on a block (i.e. same type of thing as building any pc) you can fit a waterblock.

In terms of warranty, unless there were "warranty void if removed" stickers, which is highly unlikely, then if an issue occurs, fit your original cooler on and send the card back. The manufacturer has no way of knowing you had a block on.

There is little chance of a card breaking due to fitting a waterblock so I think companies that don't "allow it" are just being silly. Even if you do push your card harder due to lower temps in terms of overclocking, the chances are it would have broken under air overclocking at a similar point anyway (unless massively overvolting).
