looks uncannily like the one in this competition? seems to be taken at the exact same spot? is it possible someone stole this award winning photo and altered it in photoshop?

anyone with photoshop overlay the images and try to line them up please with 50% transparency on both images it looks to me like it's the exact same angle? but I don't have PS installed anymore to investigate it properly

They are definitely unique images, the light on the mountains is different, the trees are different shapes, the fog is quite different. They both have their own flaws and neither is perfect IMO

The fact is that two people can take very similar pictures of the same place. Why not. There are probably also thousands of long exposure pictures of the sea with glowing clouds above. They are both good, well taken pictures that depend on being in the right place at the right time. Technically I prefer the lake one as I feel the sea one is a little lacking in subject, but I voted for both of them.
