So I was pondering the other day that I'm 26 and have had I've had 5 job interviews in my life and every single one of them has resulted in a job offer. I know that some people find it very difficult to come across in interviews well and often have the dreadful call to say that they aren't what the employer is after.

So how many interviews have you had and how many resulted in a job offer?

I'm 43, I have had a total of 4 proper job interviews (although I had several more position interviews in-house) and was successful in all 4.

Back when I was applying for jobs like a mad-man when I was 21, I applied for 110 jobs, got interviews for 27, and was successfully employed for 1.

The majority if not all of the unsuccessful interviews (and applications) were due to over qualification or fear of me leaving too soon. One interviewer/proprietor even turned me down but offered to invest in me personally.

Burnsey - lucky!

I've kept spreadsheets of my 2 main jobhunts, so will dig them out now.

2002/3: (aged 24)

Jobs applied for - 64
Interviews - 4
Job offers - 1

2009/10 (aged 31)

Job applied for - 157
Interviews - 9
Job offers - 1

I'm 28. Up until last year I'd had 6 interviews in the years after graduating, and got all 6 jobs. I was even headhunted at one point. Now I'm at a point in life where I really need a job... I've had 3 interviews and not been successful in any :( Got another interview next week - wish me luck!

Plenty of unsuccessful interviews, some I have fluffed from nerves, some I have been over looked for candidates with more relevant experience (lack of career direction so far hasn't helped) and one with network rail was a mystery of why they didn't like me.

Half of it is going for things you can actually do and the other half is just being the person they want to see, most of my unsuccessful ones have been me going for the wrong thing or just being a little out of practice in the whole thing.

4, accepted 2, turned down one and didn't get one.

The one I didn't get turned out for the best, I had a few friends work for them and all of them left hating the place, so I think I dodged a bullet there.

6 interviews, got all 6, turned down 1. I want to keep my track record.

Be looking for a job shortly as well so do hope it keeps up

Same, but I'm 48. With the way the job market is currently, I would hate to be looking for a job at my age, and would look into going self employed.

in nearly 30 years all bar one have resulted in offers, that was a speculative one that I was nowhere near qualified for

I'm 27, I can't recall internal applications as they are quite numerous, however for applications to new companies:

Total applications - 8
Interviews - 6
Job offers - 5

Not too bad once I got to interview, and I was quite relieved that I didn't get the job from that one unsuccessful interview.

Nearly 27: 12 applications, 10 interviews, 9 offers. 2 of those turned down were Christmas temp jobs, the other because an agency wasn't happy I was on the books for another and wouldn't put my application forwards.

I'm not including. Crappy student jobs here cos to be fair working in pubs etc don't count :p

3 interviews since leaving uni, got 2 jobs, 1 was not really in my field cad techician for an offshore pipework company so wasn't too bothered when I was refused. Been fairly stable in my career so far!

4 interviews. 2 with people I knew, or where I had been recommended, got both of those. 2 external, didn't get either.

Conclusion: I don't interview well but some people are kind enough to look past it.

Grad student, 22, 4-6 proper interviews depending on what you class as proper. All resulted in offers.

4 jobs all with offers...but concerned now though as even though with 12 years experience in my field, i feel i need to get a degree as everyone i come across has one or everyone i interview against seems to!

A degree if Geography or computer science would do me working in GIS but i feel the experience has done me more good, i'm skilled in every possible tool out there both payware and open but i feel now as part of the recruitment process, they see if you have a degree and if you don't you automatically not considered even though i would outperform or match by some degree any other grad in my field.

Not including my paper round I've got 3 jobs from 4 interviews in 17 years. Glad I didn't get #4 last year as I'd have been outsourced/canned* within 12 months.

Also 0 jobs from 2 work placement interviews at Uni, but the odds on those we never very good as the 2nd year placement students were up against graduates for both.
