So I have been engaged for all of a week now (bought the ring from blue nile so thanks a lot for all the suggestions from people here!).

I have no idea where I would like to go on honeymoon and would welcome and ideas / suggestions that you might have. Personally I dont want to slob around on a beach for a couple of weeks (I think the fiance might like a little bit of that). At the moment im leaning towards some kind of safari but very open to any and all suggestions.

Places that I have visited recently (and therefore would prefer not to go visit) are Australia, Thailand, Vietnam and Florida.

Equally if there are any decent companies that people have used in the past that would be much apprecaited. Thinking of a total budget of around £5k for 2 weeks.

Thanks everyone,
Mike

Me and the boss spent two weeks travelling around California (Los Angeles > Las Vegas > San Francisco) and then spent a week in Maui (Hawaii) to relax so we got best of both worlds. Saw, drove and did lots in California (Disneyland, San Diego, Universal etc.) and then had a week chilling in Maui.

Congratulatons! :)

A lot of my friends have used Trailfinders for their honeymoons. Wedding guests give a wedding gift in the form of money towards their dream honeymoon.

I would personally like to go somewhere like Maldives, followed by a bit of backpacking.

We based ourselves in Sorrento though we spent some time travelling throughout Italy exploring Rome, the Vatican City State, Naples, the island of Capri, Pompei, and we even climbed Vesuvius. :)

Went to Cuba for ours, 2 centre. Havana was awesome but the beach resort was mediocre. For a day. Then we got hit by tropical storm Isaac (later became a hurricane), which kept us indoors for the rest of the holiday.

Either go where the place means something to you, somewhere like you both have the best memories together, like where you proposed or go somewhere where you wanted to go forever.

I am not married and not in the near future but I've seen couples go from not at all (because they have busy schedule so they are going later on in the year) to places like Bali, Japan, Australia etc, or 2 destinations honeymoon like Italy then France, or one couple went one better, they climbed kilimanjaro in the first week and then spent a week on a beach somewhere in the indian ocean (i forgot which one).

Tunisia as it was paid for by a brother in law :)

7 days - 5 days chilling on the beach in hammamet, then 2 days on a safari which took us on all modes of transport from north to south and back again - tbh that was amazing and velly awesome, made the whole trip. Best £70 I've ever spent in my entire life :>

One & Only Resort. They have several all over the world Mexico, Maldives, South Africa etc. Expensive, and also worth every penny!
I would highly recommend them for your honeymoon! We loved every minute of it all :)

Kittila, Finland (just north of the Arctic Circle).

We're not fans of prolonged beach holidays either, so instead spent our time husky sledding and snowmobiling around the Arctic countryside.

It was cold.

(Enjoyed it enough to go back 4 years later.)

We went for 3 days to Victoria Falls (Zambia), then a 5 day safari in Botswana, and then a week relaxing in Mauritius. It cost us £8k and was worth every penny. The month you go in should determine your safari location, I used the info here
Our trip was organised by Trailfinders who did a superb job. We were looked after from start to finish, and will use them again.

Back in 1980 me and Mrs Dimple went on a WWII tour all over Europe in a coach for our honeymoon - it was brilliant.

We based ourselves in Sorrento though we spent some time travelling throughout Italy exploring Rome, the Vatican City State, Naples (what a dump), the island of Capri, Pompei, and we even climbed Vesuvius. :)

We did this last year for our 32nd anniversary.
