Job interviews success rate

Its a bit skewed by the sheer number of people looking for work also (depending a bit on the area) someone who say 10 years ago would get job offers for 9 out of 10 jobs they had an interview for could quite likely become the 2nd choice candidate for 9 out of 10 they applied for today.

I've had a good track record, about a dozen job interviews and only 2 or 3 didn't result in an offer at the very least

Since leaving uni in 2002: 7 interviews 5 offers. Place a lot of value in the 2 rejections as you can learn a lot from the reasons for not getting an offer if they give feedback (rather than desperately trying to make up reasons as to why you didn't want the job anyway which I suppose is natural reaction to rejection) which any proper employer will

23 here.

Total job interviews - 3
Job offers - 2

Didn't get the third one, but I was happy I didn't in the end as I then applied for a higher position.

Really? :/

Rather crass to discuss that in my opinion.

Crass is definitely the word I would use.

Thar be a recession on. People chiming in with how amazing they are is only going to warp perceptions and make it more difficult for those having a tough time.

See, what you're doing wrong if you're not being offered every job you've been interviewed for, is that you're obviously spitting in the employer's face. Didn't anybody ever tell you not to spit at them? They don't like being spat on, so don't do that. Oh, and obviously wash and groom. I didn't get my last job offer as I turned up in the unkempt clothes I'd slept in complete with white ominous stains down the front and spat at them whenever they asked me a stupid question.

Who knew?

Haven't had an unsuccessful interview yet.. I hope to keep it that way.

It does depend what kind of jobs you're applying for though.

Age 18 at the time I applied for 24 jobs and got 0 interview, I walked into a company and asked for a job and got it. I worked there till the end, 8 years.

Not had a job interview yet (31 yrs old). So far I've just been offered positions by people who were familiar with my work. I'll be transitioning to self-employment over the next 12 months, so hopefully I won't ever have the "pleasure" of a job interview :)

I did have one for Uni though (Cambridge). I found it pretty tough, but I managed to get through. All other positions and courses have been just an informal chat and tour round the facilities really, with the offer already on the table.

100% success here too, out of around 5 jobs I think?

Ironically, since joining the airforce I have been turned down for every posting that i've wanted :(

Had 5 proper interviews and got 5 offers. Had 1 phone interview for a job that evidently was not for someone with my skill base so absolutely fluncked it.

I am 37, and I've had 10 jobs, and I've flunked two interviews, both this year after I was made redundant, one the guy actually rang me up and said it was because it was evident I would only be using them as an income till something better arrived, the other one I simply didn't interview very well for it, it was a job I had a great deal of enthusiasm for.
