Thanks to the help in the last thread on picking new components, I now have these on order:

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i7-4770K 3.50GHz (Haswell) Socket LGA1150 Processor - Retail £275.99
1 x Samsung 256GB SSD 840 PRO SATA 6Gb/s Basic - (MZ-7PD256BW) £193.99
1 x Gigabyte Z87X-OC Intel Z87 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX Motherboard £179.99
1 x Patriot Viper "Black Mamba" Generation 3 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 PC3-17000C11 2133MHz Dual Channel Kit (PV316G213C1K) £119.99
1 x Corsair Carbide 540 High Airflow ATX Cube Case - Black £113.99
1 x Corsair Hydro H100i High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler (Socket 1155 / 1150 / 1156 / 1366 / 2011 / AM2 / AM3 / FM1 / FM2) £97.99
1 x Corsair Builder Series CX 600w Modular '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply (CP-9020060-UK) £62.99
Total : £1,058.42 (includes shipping : £11.25).

Graphics card and additional storage will come later (I have no money until Tuesday).

So basically, I was thinking about removing the fans in the 540 (I believe it's three 120mm ones and a 140mm one), and replacing the 2 fans on the H100i.

In addition, I was considering orange cables for the PSU and white LED's for the case. So my next purchase would be this:

YOUR BASKET
1 x BitFenix Alchemy Cable Bundle - Orange £28.45
1 x BitFenix Alchemy Premium Modding LED Strip - Connect White 60cm £25.99
1 x Alpenföhn 140mm Wing Boost Plus PWM Fan - Orange £14.99
5 x Alpenföhn 120mm Wing Boost Plus PWM Fan - Orange £13.99 (£69.95)
Total : £149.29 (includes shipping : £8.25).

Any way I could cut down the price but keep in theme? My main aim here is looks and silence, since the corsair fans are noisy.

I wonder where I have seen this be for ;) good luck with the build

A little cheaper :)

The fans you chose are undeniably better though.

Cheers mate!

I just saw the thread last night and realised how good it looked! To be honest, with that board if you really want to do things right then there's only 1 way to go. I went for black ram though because slots 1 and 2 are orange.

1 quick question though - the fans I linked in my post, are they 4 pin?

As the case and RAM is out of stock you might just get the chance to change your order.....

1 x XFX Pro 850W Core Edition '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply £74.99
1 x Corsair Hydro H100 Extreme Performance Liquid CPU Cooler *Manufacturer Refurbished Unit - 90 Day Guarantee £39.95
Total : £967.98 (includes shipping : £11.75).

I'd like a 750-850W PSU to keep the door open for the Xfire/Sli support. The Carbide 540 case has X3 140mm fans as standard and thanks to the PSU having it's own compartment hiding cables is MUCH easier. Modular PSUs are nice but this case won't really punish you for going non modular.

I can pretty much pre-pimp it thanks to those savings.

1 x BitFenix Hydra Fan/LED Controller £24.98
3 x BitFenix Spectre PRO 140mm White LED - Black £13.99 (£41.97)
Total : £1,089.38 (includes shipping : £11.75).

I'd spray a set of the rings on the SP120s orange to match. The Bitfenix fans are 140mm and have white LEDs to light the case interior. The fan controller allows adjustment of the fans manually (dims the LEDs obviously) but can also enable/disable the LEDs in the Spectre fans with a button.

Best of luck with the build, I look forward to seeing what you settle on :)
