Double check my budget gaming system...

Thanks hon - you've been a great help this last week.

Valued input in your last post too. Do you think the XFX PSU is actually better than the Corsair 430 I had listed, or was it just because of it being slightly cheaper? I had my eye on the Corsair due to it being semi-modular...

Either way, pretty much set so will be hitting 'buy' on all of this tomorrow.

Parents home build stuff turned up today, so just about to start on that...back to work tomorrow though so not sure I'll finish it today!

And of all the things to forget...looks like have to go out into rush hour now to visit the purple people to get some thermal paste!

The PSU hono spec'd is better than the Corsair 430, especially as it's cheaper.

I/my wife use Samsung monitors, always been very pleased with the quality.

No worries fella. I'm not taking too much credit as it's ALWAYS a team effort here on the forum :)

The heatsink will have paste pre-applied so no need to buy any really.

The CX is Corsairs budget range but still good. The XFX 450W is Seasonic made (ie it's good) and has a little more juice. I'd prefer it over the CX430M even though it's not semi-modular. An LED monitor will be better, they use less power to run and have superior blacks over LCD. That 23inch panel is a no brainer, sorry I missed it but like I said before we can all make mistakes ;)

Best of luck with your builds. Hope your boy has a great B'day :D

Currently the cheapest GPU I have read of that gives decent performance levels (IE playable minimal frame rates with today's more demanding games such as Skyrim, Bioshock Infinite, Crysis 3, Battlefield 3, on reasonable settings) at 1080p, is the £144 GTX 660 2GB.

Short 174mm PCB and single 6 pin connection are great too. It is the least I would consider buying my son, if he did not just get my hand me downs.

Edit, i3 spec now is it!
