UPLAY

Only annoyance ive had with uplay is that i launched uplay to play far cry 3. But because i didnt launch uplay via steams far cry 3 shortcut. No games appeared in my uplay account.

I know companys are trying to go digital to compete with steam. But if you are going to sell your game on steam then require it to launch your program. I fail to see the need for it. Uplay isnt a bad program. I quite like the idea of achievements earning points you can use to buy random things. But it just isnt necessary as a program.

It's like rockstars social club that was orignally needed for gta 4. Except rockstar listened to gamers and rightfully scrapped it.

It's just a launcher really, far less intrusive than Origin for example. At least it doesn't stay running in the background when you don't need it.

As already mentioned, you dont get a single Uplay account. Games bought / activated through steam have a seperate Uplay browser to games bought outside of steam.

I found this as I got the retail (non steam) version of Far Cry 3, I later bought Blood Dragon on Steam. When I launch one of the games, the other game either wouldnt show up at all in my Uplay game library or it would be greyed out and trying to activate the serials in Uplay didnt work.

Launch retail version of Far Cry 3...Blood Dragon steam version greyed out in Uplay.
Launch steam version of Blood Dragon...Far Cry 3 retail version greyed out in Uplay.

Seems totally stupid to me, but hey, thats Ubisoft for you.
