Leave them as they are. But if I was in a situation my bin would be overflowing then I'd crush them.

Crushing them when they won't even fill the bin is just a time wasting exercise.

after ive finished a can of drink i give the sides a gentle squeeze so that at a glance i can see if a can is finished or not - really helps at dinner/restaurants etc

My neighbor has a big blue industrial bin in his back garden, he fills it monthly and then gets the local gypsies to come in their van and cart it away for scrap value.

He's not going to last long my neighbor Filling one of those bins up every month with lager cans =\

In answer to the question, i crush them. But my neighbour does not.

I tried to headbutt the top of the can, it really wasn't the best thing i've done, was extremelly painful.

I recycle the empty cans.
