*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S4 Thread ***

Anyone got any good deals on the S4 lately?

Upgrade date is 25/08/2013 so wondering what sort of deals people are getting recently?

Not ******* happy.

Just got my phone back from Samsung was that was supposedly repaired. Turn the phone on and go through all of the setting up of the phone all over again, attempt to turn on the wifi - won't turn on. Here we go again! Tried several times to turn it on, it won't and it still reboots itself. I've had 2 sheets of paper that have came back with the phone, one states that a fault had been detected with the phone and it has been repaired in some way but it does not specify and the other sheet which is an inspection report (whether it was carried out before or after the apparent repair I don't know) has PASS ticks on all of the inspection steps.

I've just been on the phone to Samsung again to complain about this and to find out if they have really repaired the phone, they claim they have but they cannot find out how as the repair report does not mention anything! This is absolutely unbelievable and shocking, if the phone really had been repaired then surely a full detailed report of what had been done would be present?!?! To me the phone has probably only gone through yet another quick firmware flash and then shoved straight back into the box to be returned to me. Not good enough at all.

Anyway, after several apologies on their behalf they have requested that the phone is to be sent back to them again for another repair. Apparently this time the phone will be looked at properly.

I feel like I really am at the end of my tether with mobile phones recently.

export to sd > import to s4?

Please don't do this. I almost find it annoying that people don't just store them with Google. Sure enough, someone comes along with a problem with their phone.

"have I lost all my contacts?"
"No, they're stored in your Gmail account..."
"No, I didn't store them like that"

 :o

I'm fairly sure this is what ALL phone manufacturers do the first time a phone comes back. Even if you specify you've already done this yourself and it didn't help. Re-flash and send it back. If it comes back, then we'll take a proper look. Very poor.

It's just appalling in my eyes. Fair enough that in a lot of cases, phones that are sent in for repair may just need a simple firmware re-flash and it fixes the problem but you would think that when someone like me gives a very descriptive insight into the problem over the phone (which is also recorded on the repair notes as it's shown online on my repair request) then you would think the assigned engineer their end would take 2 minutes to look at the phone and see that the phone has a problem, then attempt to re-flash the firmware and then see afterwards that the problem still persists and go on from there - not just re-flash the firmware, turn it off and return it & hope for the best.

I'm just annoyed that once again I have got to send the phone them again and have to wait until mid next week until I get it back again. I really hope this time that they do something about it as I don't want to go through another scenario that I did with HTC where I ended up having to send my phone in 3 times...

I had that with HTC too. Sent it away twice, still they ignored my description of the issue. By then I found a way to sort it myself.

Agreed.

Does anyone has the problem where the notification and call sounds goes through the external speakers and not the headphones and is there a way to change this so it goes through the headphones instead?

I've tried SoundAbout app it was working fine for a week or 2, now it's acting up.

Using FoxHound 1.3

It's a known bug with JB in general as far as I know, had the same problem with my S3
