we pay in our taxes 0.7% towards foreign aid.
A person on an income of £25,000 pays £5,465 in tax, of which £52 a year would go to the overseas aid budget. That is the cost of buying a loaf of bread a week, do you begrudge the starving of the world that or not.

I think the money could be spent more effectively in our own country instead of handing it over to god knows who to be spent on god knows what.

Whilst we have food banks in this country, I feel the money would be better spent here.

Do I begrudge aid going to people who need it .... no.

Do I begrudge aid going to countries which have the money to put towards their problems themselves but choose to spend it on other things or are just going to waste any aid money on corruption or other things .... yes.

Is it a good idea to just give resources to support people without also looking at addressing the problem which is causing their situation .... no.

For, the good it does far our weighs the amount it costs me, if tax is to be saved they are other areas (benefits for scum in the uk) I would much rather see cut before this.

Charity should begin at home. Fix our own country's problems first then we will be in a better position to help others.

A while back I remember a screen shot taken of the BBC News site, in this screen shot was two headlines on the same front page, one was 'The UK sends £50Million in foreign aid to India' and the other one was 'India to spend £300Million on Space Program'. Derp.
