Hi All

Just looking for a little advice,

I am looking to upgrade from my 580 GTX Lightning 1.5GB shortly. Along with it is a new monitor upgrade, likely 27" 1440p (Ready for BF4) Will likely do this in the next month or so. Or the other option is the 27" 144Hz (I currently have a 22" 120Hz Monitor)

Just need to know if you think 2GB VRAM will be enough to power such a monitor - I will be testing BF4 during beta before I decide really on how well things will play.

Thanks

Scott

2Gb is enough for 1 monitor.. SLI 670 or 680 will give you a great performance, also Xfire 7950 or 7970, Crossfire seems to be fixed for 1 monitor resolutions (I have 3 + crossfire and I don't have problems, but I run @60hz)

So for clarification - if running at 60Hz the most you'll see is 60FPS right?
Yea indeed. However there are some people claiming having higher frame rate than the monitor's refresh rate would reduce input lag...I'm not sure if that's urban legend or BS invented by some very bored individuals or not.

BF4 is a GE title, AMD isn't going to drop the ball in this years premier showcase PC title.

2Gb is enough for 1 monitor..

No one knows what retail non beta BF4 requirements are, whether at first glance it 'looks the same' it isn't, there is new lighting and other stuff going on in the frostbite 3 engine.

Whether it's optimised or not on release by EA for vram usage is another matter to think about too(for the conspiracy theorists). ;):p

Regardless what cards anyone gets though, they will all have playable settings to suit.

BF3 all ultra settings 2 x AA -depending on the map, anything from 70 to 100 fps.

And thats without overclocking them at all.

Nice, what monitor do you have - I still don't know what one to get? When you overclock your card, when you overclock in for exmaple Afterburner does that overclock go to all 3 cards?

ASUS PB278Q , its epic

I use precision X , and yeah it syncs to both cards

Out of curiosity, is the GTX 760 better than the GTX 680

Just checked prices and the 760's are cheaper? Would the extra £40 per card be worth it if I went for the 770 MSI Gaming Edition 2GB? Thanks

760 £228
680 £280
770 £320

The 680 and 770 are close. I'm looking at a replacement sli setup now and have decided the 680 would be much better for the price.

680s at OCUK around £260 if you can wait until Tuesday (but pre-order now) There's also a nice KFA2 OC'd 4GB card coming next week.

Andi.
