I've done some research into making a £600 gaming PC and I want to play the latest games on high at a decent FPS.

My AMD build:
AMD FX 6300
MSI 970A-G46 ATX Motherboard
XFX Radeon HD 7870
Western digital 1TB 7200rpm HDD
128GB San Disk Pulse SSD
Corsair DDR3 8GB 1600MHz
Casecom CS-13 full tower ATX case
Corsair 600W CX builder series PSU 80 Plus Bronze modular
LG Internal 24x DVDRW ODD

Intel build:
Intel i5 3350P 3.10GHz (1155)
Gigabyte GA-Z68AP-D3 Z68
Zotac GTX 660 2GB
Western digital 1TB 7200rpm HDD
Corsair DDR3 8GB 1600MHz
Casecom CS-13 full tower
Corsair 600W CX builder series modular
Lg internal 24x DVDRW ODD

They both come to just under the £600 mark but the intel build has an extra £40 ish to play with so I was thinking maybe a better graphics card, processor or case. So which should I go for and why but also what should I change.

Cheers Sam

Intel very capable build but forgoes the SSD. If gaming is what you want to do, you won't get much better for the price. Case has USB 3.0 too which is a bonus at the price.

Looks good, again personally I'd go with this ram though ;)

But little difference either way.

I've used that in specs as you well know. Yes it looks nice colour coded to the mobo but the difference between CAS9 and 11 makes very little odds. I would have liked to use the modular version of the PSU too but he said £600 so did my best to stick to it

What he will notice is the 7870LE can be OC'd to do a good impersonation of a 7950, for the rough price of a 7850 you can't complain about that.

It's still quite important for overall performance. You need to keep the timings the same and increase the RAM speed to get a gain really.
