gpu purchase advise

hello,

im looking to buy a geforce gtx 770 gpu. there are various versions of the card all with various clock speeds.

the only difference i can see are the clock speeds, am i correct in saying this?

would i be as well buying a cheaper model and overclocking it myself or put the extra cash towards buying one that is already overclocked?

Buying a gpu with a decent cooler is the key to a decent overclock, but warrenty comes into play

yeah but are all these cards essentially just the same but with different clock speeds?

is there much value in paying another £60 for a card thats overclocked by 150mhz when i could do that myself?

Save yourself some money and go for this while it's on offer for £189 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-299-AS. You won't get much better bang for buck than this atm. It won't be a million miles away from the GTX 770 in games etc. All the same architecture, just a few more cores and higher memory speed. You will save £150 over the model you were looking at...

Yea the price point that the 770 is at is just poor value. Would rather pay the extra and get a pair of those £190 Asus GTX670 to SLI and get FAR more performance for just £40-£50 more.

for future reference though, do you guys buy cards that arent overclocked and do it yourself of buy the cards that are factory overclocked?

I generally buy the ones that are overclocked as they have better coolers.
