Best gpu for 2.5k res apart from overpriced keplers?

Define '2.5k res'. This means nothing.
What usage?
Budget?
Current equipment you plan to use with?

Make a reasonable post and then you can expect 'ideas'.

Outside of the 780 & titan your only realistic options would be a pair of 770's / 79x0's...

Is it urgent? As amd's new offerings are due in around 8 weeks and should see you get a little more bang for your buck. Even if that means forcing nvidias hand to reduce price.

I was looking for reasonably priced gpus but the best I could find was the 780 which is obviously overpriced, anyone got any ideas?

If your motherboard supports at least x8 x8 crossfire go for 2x7970ghz edition cards.

If your motherboard only has one slot, wait till the end of the week and ocuk will have a sale on the 7990 cards, which is two 7970 ghz edition cards on one pcb.

If you want to get similar performance but for a bargain then grab...

Sell or keep the games that come with the cards to reduce the prices even further.

Or you can wait for AMD's new cards to launch. However no date is set yet, its some time in Q4 and not in September as previously thought. September will just be a paper launch/show off of the new gpu with the full launch coming later. Earliest will be early to mid October i will speculate.

I would not buy the vtx3d brand personally.
I also would suggest a single 7950 or 7970 or similiar nvidia but the tendency is price/performance belongs to amd.
Single card 7970 is a beast especially if you OC slightly.

Crossfire as well as sli I dont like and I rather lower my settings a notch and use a single card. For me I can play most games at my resolution with a single card except fps games where I lower them a lot for fps gains.
I take that any day of the week.
