How do you form your brackets at the end of a sentence? Punctuation within or out, or both?
a) I tightened the screw (using a Phillips PH00.)
b) I tightened the screw (using a Phillips PH00).
c) I tightened the screw (using a Phillips PH00.).
I personally use B, I look at it in a mathematical point of view where the brackets are taken in consideration separate to the rest of the sum and that the equation is complete outside of the bracket, where it is ended with a full stop. Believe that in A the Full stop only ends the text within the bracket, and that the writing Pre-bracket has not come to a proper halt. I believe that C is a waste of resources and by educating the people that use this method we could save an approximate of 15 Billion pounds per annum on wasted paper. A standard A4 Sheet can hold 1,296 full stops (Times New Roman, Size 12). In theory, writing in style B, one page of 1,296 full stops is used every 1,296 bracketed events. However, in style C, one page of 1,296 full stops is wasted every 648 bracketed events. I concur that to save the global economy, we must outlaw writing style C.
