Off to look at this in a few days:

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifi...a-leather-rain-sensor-auto-lights-etc/1594327

Just wondering if it is a good/bad idea, if there is anything I should be looking out for and if the price is fair?

Also any other car I should be considering for a decent performance auto estate/suv up to £13k. Look at 5 series, A4 Avants, Yetis, Tiguans, Pasatts etc but keep coming back to the 3 series.

Cheers!

You would think that they would clean the boot under the rear window if they are going to be taking a picture of it.

I would guess buying a car like this the owner is not short on cash, to say they are selling it due to a new baby.........it seems the ideal car to ferry around a newborn in.....maybe I'm missing something.

It's not exactly a 2 door coupe.

Exactly what I thought when I saw it!

First of all, you are wrong, you'd get an older 3.0 like the one I linked to (and older obviously isn't a problem, as the 330d is a 56 plate), and they certainly aren't slow.

Dated is subjective, but IMO the pre-facelift E90/91 is an ugly looking thing that time has not been kind to. I'd much rather have an S Line 4F A6.

Why a diesel? You'll pay for more for it, it will go wrong more often and be more expensive to fix. You are buying an old car, just paying much newer car money for it because it's a BMW diesel.

I'm not overly bothered Petrol/diesel, TBH I'd prefer a petrol. It's just that all the higher spec Autos in my price range seem to be diesels.

Keep searching, once you find the petrol it will be cheaper or newer/lower mileage for the same money. The prefacelift E90 isn't a particularly great car anyway especially now its old.

Slightly on topic - I had no idea until reading this thread that the rear hatch window opened like that on the 3 series touring. Does the hatch open in the same manner on the 5 series touring?.

Perhaps he's already got 3 kids (Catholic :D) and is going to get some dreary sprog wagon to hold them all.
