Yeah before everyones like OMG WHAT A NOOB. i got to 4.8ghz stock cooler ( i'm buying a h100) can i hit 5ghz? i didnt stress the cpu when i booted

probably but it don't mean anything if its not stable as in prime95 or ibt stable

ok for quick benchmarks

If you did not stress the CPU then it's very possible to be unstable. Additionally the heat generated at them clocks is too much for a stock cooler so if you ever went into any load with it it will overheat or be very hot. If you don't plan to load it, whats the point in overclocking at the moment?:p

buy a proper cooler then overclock

whatever you do don't stress the cpu with stock cooler and those clocks

It should be fine, it's a decent budget cooler. And the sb cpu's are pretty cool running. The fan on it is a bit loud though at full pelt.

I agree, got a mk1 freezer pro which is still going after about 6 years, its currently cooling an old 775 system @ 1.45v topping out at about 75c in this warm weather. Noisy but does the job :)

what's the fascination with 4.8ghz? you'll be lucky to do 4.5-4.6ghz ibt stable unless you've landed a golden cpu

most I can do with my 2600k is 4.5ghz @1.344v any higher and the volts/temps needed simply arn't worth it in my case

that's using a noctua d14
