Just put together:
Giga z87oc, 4770k, 780, and 2x8gig ram

Loaded win7 no problem installed loads of updates then switched off. Now it wont come back on. Tried the internal on button and the external. Have shorted out the psu and its working fine (new XFX 1050).
The orange light stays on on the internal switch. Have tries cmos reset and battery removal to no avail.
I dont understand that it was all ok and now nothing

Tried with no GPU and a spare GPU. Not tried with out ram. But the board does nothing not a thing. Have left the battery out all night and the machine unplugged. Put it back together and nada (the orange light on the internal on button is still lit orange even though it had no power all night).
I can make the psu work by linking it out. Is it possible that the psu is not getting a signal to switch on when any button is pressed?

Have asked for RMA just hope its the mobo. Is it possible the CPU has gone pop. Would that make the mobo not work at all?

I`d very much doubt it`s the Cpu. More likely mobo or Psu. But I would still try using 1 stick of ram as mentioned earlier. Do you have a spare Psu or know someone who can lend you one, as this would help to rule out the Psu.
Have you checked to make sure all connectors are properly seated?

Yes everything is seated. As said it worked fine for 2 hours. Loaded windows, all the drivers and updates. Then I witched off to instal another SSD and it didn't come back on. Did a cmos reset and got into the bios. Loaded optimal settings. Rebooted back into windows, windows said there had been a problem do you want to repair. Did that and then it never came back on again.

I will take it all out the case and try that. Not holding out much hope though

Update: have removed everything from case. Used 570 gcard as the 780 is watercooled and left in case. Also used intel cooler as block is same as gcard plugged everything in and all works fine. Have no idea wtf is happening.

The board is shorting out somewhere when you've installed it in the case.
This is a rarity but it does happen now and again and often doesn't happen again when you put the kit back in.

It's just one of those things.

Well this is a strange one. Put it all back into the case and nothing, all stopped working but noticed the light on the internal start switch was back on again with no PSU connected. Was starting to pull it all apart. When I was pulling plugs leads etc out I unplugged my USB3 caddy (which was not powered) the light went out on the switch.
If you plug the caddy in the light comes on and you can't power up.

Only thing now is if I try to start the rig when I have mech HD installed it throws a paddy and tries to load/recover windows. The hard drive has stuff on it and it's partitioned. Would I need to format the drive to stop it doing this? At present I wait for rig to start then plug sata in and all is fine
