I was looking for the Perseid meteors, but what is this bright blue star top middle?

I was probably the brightest star I could see (looking east).

Hard to tell really, at 10.30 Stellarium presents several options but your picture has no real frame of reference so it could be any of them and I doubt you've heard of them anyway :p

If you have a flickr account you can upload your image and then join a group called Astrometry. It's a bot that goes through the groups photos and can tell you a lot of details about direction of your image and tags in stars that are significant. Pretty useful stuff.

Wow, thanks Simon. Do you know anything more about Deneb?

Is it always super bright like that?

Also, I would love to post my bank details here, but I imagine more would go out than in!

Yup, Deneb :)

Think it's a blue super giant, but isn't really that bright compared to some stars... A quick check says it's the 19th brightest star in the sky.

Yes, always the same brightness.
