Brazilian mechanic creates light with plastic bottles and bleach

Its not a big invention really, the ancient greeks used to reflect light into basements.

Its good that its becoming very widespread though

It amazes me the ignorance of some people..

Yes, technically it is little more than a hole in the ceiling, however there are mechanical principles at work, the trick is that the bottle of water, while simple, diffuses the light as opposed to it becoming just a spot source. The bleach is simply to prevent algae from growing and blocking the light..

Personally I think that it is a great idea for solving a third world problem without needing expensive first world solutions.

yup the ignorance that make people claim "he is creating light" he is not creating anything FFS or it would work when it's pitchblack outside.

i came into the topic expecting some cool reaction taking place instead it's a bottle of ******* water stuck in someones ceiling :p

It rains a lot and windows are a luxury people in slums can hardly afford? Honestly, GD...

:D

he could make a window out of plastic bottles just cut them in half and melt the 2 sides together omg! I created a light tile! zomg

A 2 lite bottle cut in half is almost the same size as a roof tile anyway if not bigger

Indeed, just using plastic as a roof tile would be easier. I thought that "creates light with plastic bottles and beach" was actually creating light, from dark, by a chemical reaction.
All he's doing really is an alternative of using light tubes/mirrors to light up your basement etc.

Yes, its why my toilet glows in the dark.

Comical you thought that though.

how is it comical when the article says he is "creating" light he isn't creating anything look how many other people thought some kind of chemical reaction was taking place.

punching a hole in my ceiling is not creating light it's allowing light to enter rather than bounce of my roof

Provided you didn't win your Science GSCE in a raffle its quite easy to see the article title is misleading, to actual think bleach and water results in some light giving chemical reaction? Special.

we assumed something else he had kept secret was added based on the title duh.....
maybe the bint who wrote the article and headline should go read a dictionary and find out what "invent" and "create" actually mean.

BRB inventing the wheel....

well what else or people supposed to presume when "water" and "bleach" does not "create" light?

yet the title suggests it does
