im just starting out with pc gaming so im still learning so this i most probably a stupid question with an obvious answer..

after my friend heard im building a PC instead of getting the new Xbox or PS hes decided he wants one to so he getting the same build as me but he wants to lower the price abit heres the build :

VTX3D HD 7870 Black Boost Edition 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card

AMD Piledriver FX-8 Eight Core 8320 Black Edition 3.50GHz (Socket AM3+) Processor - Retail

MSI 990XA-GD55 AMD 990X Chipset (Socket AM3+) DDR3 Motherboard

Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM (ST1000DM003) HDD

Corsair Builder Series CX 500W V2 '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply (CP-9020047-UK)

Patriot Intel Extreme Masters 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (PVI38G160C9K)

Xigmatek Asgard Pro Gaming Case - Black

OcUK 20x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black)

hes looked though overclockers and decided he wants to get 500GB Hard drive instead of a 1TB - /URL]

and [URL="http://http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-136-KS&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=1517"
instead of the patriot intel extreme masters.

obviously the hard drive will be okay but im not to sure on the RAM will he notice much difference in performance or anything?

feel stupid asking these sort of questions as i should know more.

thanks
