Build around these components

total cost is 1572. what do you think of this?

Not a-lot. :p

I would get an i7 and a 770 with your budget personally, and then overclock them both. But the i5 and 780 combination works fine too.

I would get a 256GB SSD rather than a 120GB as you will find the 120 filling up quite fast.

I wouldnt get an MSI motherboard, I would get a Gigabyte Z87X-D3H.

I wouldnt touch a Phantom case with a barge pole because it may be £110 but it looks like it should cost half that. I would get something with a far better metal construction if you want to spend that much on a case.

The PSU is alright, but I wouldn't get that model, I would plump for a 750W 80+ Silver XFX XXX like mine, A Corsair TX750 or a Seasonic.

You would also benefit hugely from getting aftermarket cooling as you wont be overclocking that CPU without it, and it will run quite hot even at stock clocks.

thanks for reply. Why would you go with the gigabyte board for? What case would you recomend instaed

You nailed it Doomedspeed. :p

It is indeed a stonking rig. :)

You could get an 850W PSU I suppose, just so that it leaves the possibility of adding a second GTX770 in the future as well as allowing overclocking headroom for both 770's and the i7.

A 750 would be fine for the i7 & 770 though. :)

The 750w PSU will be for SLI and overclocking the i7.

:D

:p

I sometimes forget how little power these cards use... :p

My GTX480 must have had an effect on my mind. :D
