Hey guys,

From the start I have always wanted a Nvidia card as I have seen them as the leaders in graphics technology. However due to their cheap price I bought myself an AMD radeon 7950 sapphire vapor-x. I sent my first one back because of coil whine and then I sent the second one back for performance issues. Apparently my friend said it was just my manufacturer of the card that was making it run slow.

Since Nvidia has released its GTX 760 their is now no reason for me to get another 7950 as I will not be getting Physx, cuda and all the other features. I have decided to go with the msi 760 as the noise, temperature and performance all seem to balance out the best.

After Christmas I plan on also getting a dell ultrasharp u2412m which I have been saving up for all year to replace my current TV I have been playing on. But I still wish to use my TV and monitor together so I can have a Youtube video on one side (My TV) and my games on the other. So not one game across both screen.

What I want to know is if I can do that and how and also will two monitors effect my framerate if only one is on the desktop.

Thanks.

670 over a 760 imo

The 760 is a cut down 670 with an overclock to make it appear the superior card.

Overclock the 670 to the same level which is easy and it will outperform the 760.

also cheaper

and the current pricing of the 2 cheapest reference cards from the same manufacturer

Okay, I should be receiving my refund for my 7950 tomorrow. I found something around £150 in my account which I didn't know about and was starting to think on spending this on a GTX 770 instead. But I was also thinking whether I should wait until Christmas and get a GTX 780 and then get my ultrasharp monitor in March. Is the 780 worth the wait I only on to play on one monitor at 1920x1200.

I love my MSI twin frozr 780 and its super quiet. Dosnt matter how high I clock it (1250 and 7ghz) it ultra quiet. Ive always bought amd then nvidia and alternated every gen but I dont think I will be going back to AMD in hurry

By that I mean it's best to wait to compare what's available, not that he should just get a 9970 instead. There's a good chance nvidia will be forced to cut the price of the 780s.

I cant see what all the fuss is about yea £189 is nice but leaf blower coolers are noisy and suck, and it's not even much more than 20 fps better across the board on many games than a card you can get for around £85-£100 or less second hand.Good for buyers without a card or access to a good place to buy a second hand card though.

I'd rather pay a bit more and get the Asus GeForce GTX 670 DirectCU II OC Gamer 2048MB at least it has a decent cooler but even then I wouldn't be happy shelling out £200 for a card that's not even that fast.

But do you think it is still worth investing more time saving for a 680 on a single monitor until Christmas. Even then I will still have to play on my TV...

I really want very smooth fps I mean ever since I have moved to PC slight FPS deviations have made me not wish to play the game.

You might not be able to get a 680 by Christmas. The 670s and 680s are being sold off to clear them.

But you can get a 670 factory overclocked for £198 that has a very good custom cooler (the Asus DirectCU II). That'd give you max settings in most older games, and decent ones in the most recent.

If I am buying new I want 7970 level performance minimum for around £200 which isn't there yet but probably soon will be.
The gtx 670 asus one is the only good deal because the cooler is better.

We may see 7970s fall to about £250 soon, and I'd expect the 7950 to be at £200 before long.

Nvidia isn't likely to change prices on anything but the GTX 780, and only if there's stiff competition from AMD.

With any of these graphics cards I can still plug it into two monitors. Specifically my HDMI tv and Displayport monitor. Would this work as I heard you have to use dual DVI or something like that. I only wish to play games on my monitor and have the internet on the other so no surround gaming.
