HTC & Robert Downey Jr.

I really hope they get things right. My HTC One is a fantastic phone. I shudder to think of a phone market with no HTC where we are all forced to buy the plastic crap Samsung peddle simply because they fool more people with marketing than HTC managed to.

Fingers crossed they'll get the market share Blackberry and Nokia are loosing.

The ad didnt really work for me, it just so random and has no clear focus. They really need to push their brand a bit more and the HTC One. Its one of the best looking phones out there and they should play on that. It also need more emotion, it just big flashy lights.

The only part of the phone that is noticeably plastic is the back - and I hardly notice it. It feels nice, smooth and ergonomic in the hand.

If the back was made out of metal it would make hardly any difference to anything. Yes I agree if they made the back a bit textured and rubberised that would help, but really other than the that the S4 is all premium.

And the S4 has a lot going for it otherwise I wouldn't have bought one.

What makes you associate 'plastic' with 'crap'? I suggest you go on a two day plastics course as I did, and learn about the vast range of plastics and their applications. The polymer selection process and engineering that goes into the single back cover of a smartphone is nothing to scoff at.

If anything, you have fallen for the marketing because I'm pretty confident that, overall, the plastic that Samsung use in the S4 will have more favourable properties than the aluminium used in the HTC One or the iPhone 5. For starters, it'll be far more sustainable. Granted, it doesn't have the premium look and feel of the HTC One, but I'm in no doubt it's a better engineered material. You say Samsung are ahead because of their marketing? Maybe. But I'm pretty sure the materials science and efficient manufacturing processes are a major contributing factor to their record profits and market share. HTC chose are more expensive (and less suited) material for their flagship smartphone. I'm glad they did, because it's different and looks great, but they made that decision knowing it would be less profitable.

From a security stand-point it very much makes sense to have to wipe it to root it.

Or you just do it before you set the phone up in the first place ;)

Having had an EVO 3D I would happily buy another HTC. Was reliable as hell, and good quality. I hate that they lock down their phones and make it difficult to get another ROM on them, but that really is an aside.

I picked up a Galaxy S4. It felt flimsey and plasticy.

I picked up an HTC One. It felt nice and metally and well crafted.

I purchased HTC One. The end.

The first time I touched a S4 is felt very nasty and slimmy and plasticy. But I was using my brothers yesterday and it felt OK, it wasn't too bad and it wins in the ergonomics. It not really good in the looks department but I think its feels ok.

That's a lot of pointless waffle when you could have just said you care more about material sustainability than look and feel of the device.

After having my OneS for a year and a bit now there isn't really anything major that sticks out that would stop me buying another HTC. The relatively poor front camera is probably the worst thing, and that's hardly the end of the world. How it feels is pretty damn important though, considering how much it's used and i still love it. It's just so solid.

Quite liked the ad.

Now they've introduced who they are, time to smash an advert out with more of their products in!

I've always wondered why phone companies don't put short teaser adverts on just showing off something cool on their phones. Almost like just making an advert out of those "HTC How to" videos HTC put on YouTube, like how to use Zoe to erase someone completely from a photo. I was blown away when I saw that and everyone I showed it to was stunned too. Put that on an advert and you'd have some sales out of it.

....even though the GS4 can do the exact same thing but the difference is 95% of people wouldn't know that and they'd think the HTC One was better as a result. Not enough phone adverts show off cool things you can do with the phone and make people go "woah, cool".

The HTC One could show off:

BoomSound
UltraPixel camera in darkness
HTC Zoe features like always smile
The IR remote control it has in built linked to favourite TV shows that you click on and itll put that channel on
Etc etc

I really can't understand why HTC pulled out of its cycling sponsorship. Was a drop in the ocean about $20-30m to run for a year. And concidering the amount of air time Sky have got out it i'd have considered it more value for money than shelling out $1bn on a crap actor.

HTC - great phones. God awful marketing.

Yeh, they should focus on this and the premium look of their phone compared to something like the S4. But for the life of my I can't understand why they would call it boomsound.
