charging cable?

Got a xperia z and just received a charging cable off fleabay. However, even though out is plugged in at mains it is very slow to charge. It's been on 8 hours and only got to 79%!

Are there different cables? Anyone able to recommend a fast charge cable?
 
make sure its from a proper shop on amazon as well. bought a "official" HTC from their marketplace and the cable wouldnt charge properly (flickered) and the charger was just 1A which is below HTC spec.

they had just printed the label off and stuck it on the fake.
 
I find the official blackberry micro USB cables (specifically the micro usb plug is chunkier and seems to connect better)are better quality that the Samsung one that came with my S3 phone, which has started playing up recently (about 12 months old).

I know this as my works phone is blackberry so have tried both.
 
thanks for that - i plugged in my official charger then the flebay one and yes the official charged much, much faster.

Will be buying the one recommended.

yea I got a usb > mini usb off ebay and it charges about 20x slower than the one that came with my phone even if it's plugged in at the wall

I would never have expected there to be a difference in usb cables but I guess there must be
