Halfords damaged my car!!

That worked a treat! had a phone call from the ceo this morning, getting a refund for the brakes assured me that my car would be repaired and paid for and gave me a direct number for him if im not happy with anything in the process!

Can't get fairer than that, try and get a £50 voucher chucked in aswell ;)

What would happen if you used your insurance company, would they deal with it and get the money back off halfords for your out of pocket expenses?

Not sure how this would affect your no claims though or is it protected?

Don't do this, your renewal will go up as you'll have a non fault claim on the policy.

Try and fine some where that will give you a courtesy car while the work is being done.

Great result OP!

Not sure your right there, I had 2 claims on my insurance where it was someone else fault and my premium went down the next year.

Anyway he's already sorted and I had already suggested getting a free courtesy car.

Glad you got it sorted OP.

You're statistically more likely to have another accident, in my case it was true, I was rear ended again 8 months later. First time I avoided my insurance company to avoid the hike, luckily second time I had whiplash so the injury payout covered the hike.

Not sure what happened to mine then :)

I have 9 years NCB with protection, I think the protection is worth it, I am looking at a new car at the moment with a bit more power I may do a few quotes without the NCB and see what they come out at!

So i just got my car back after it being in for a week, on initial inspection the car looked good, but when i got home after my 40mins drive i noticed over spray and roughness on the side skirt of my car, as i signed for the work being ok, do i have a leg to stand on?

Also just looked again it seems as if the paint on my door is really rough compared with the paint on the next panel which is as smooth as a baby's bum :/

not sure if you can see the slight difference in colour along the top edge nearest to the door? its rough all the way down their, and the door feels really not smooth at all to touch :(

SO they've painted up to the trim instead of taking it off and spraying both parts separately.

Surprise ****ing surprise...

*Sorry, bodyshops are worse than the tax collector

I am really upset, words cant describe how mad i am, car is only worth around £3k now at most but i feel like crying, is it usual for new paint to feel like the texture of a orange?

No. Take it back and tell them that under different light conditions you have realised how bad the job was.

Yes you have a leg to stand on. If you have spotted something that an initial inspection did not pickup.

Don't get down about it, this carp happens ALL the time, the bodyshop will be used to it and able to handle it.
Ring them up speak to manager explain not happy what has happened and they *should* arrange for it to be collected or for yo to drop it off again. the only PITA is having a courtesy car again for another week or so.

But seriously do not get depressed or upset over it as it will be sorted.
CBA to read the whole thread, who chose the bodyshop btw, you or Halfords ?

i chose a bodyshop that was recommended to me by a friend who had some work on his audi done, i took it their and got a quote i took it in to halfords and they laughed and told me to go get another quote, so i did i took it to honda and they put me through to their approved body shop, which halfords then chose over the one i originally wanted.

Its just really annoying i love this car, and although its not the newest or the most expensive its mine and i take good care of it, the whole week it was at the shop i was worrying about it, might sound stupid i know, but that's how i felt. i am not sure if i can live with another week of the Chevrolet spark :(

Also it was a 3 week wait to get booked in! it better not now be another 3 weeks to get booked back in to fix the job!

I've said this time and time again that you never go to a dealer approved bodyshop unless it is in house.

I always take my cars to BMW bodyshops as they are usually in house and you can just keep moaning and moaning and they just put it right as it really doesn't personally cost them anything as they still get the same salary at the end of the day.

approved dealer bodyshops are a complete scam and purely a numbers game. As you can see here.

That is an utterly crap job and now you're in a right heap of mess.

Well tomorrow i intend to pop in to my local halfords auto center that damaged the car in the first place and let them know and see the crap job and tell them not to pay, the work has yet to be paid for, when i turned up to pick my car up the body shop said hi, that will be £390.20 please, i was like WTF! they had no idea who was paying for the repair, i was their an hour before they would let me take my car away just as they closed.

After halfords, i am going to Mansfield Honda to moan at them and show them the repair, Honda is literally 2 minutes drive from the repair center so i guess it cant hurt, and then finally i will go into the repair center and moan at their work. Not sure how much good it will get me, but its going to be my Saturday gone which i was meant to be working overtime.

Funny thing is im in the process of trying to sort my finances for a Honda s2k, but its going to be a few months yet, and this car is going to be part-ex but i want it right before then.

Ok so they flattened the door down and made it smooth, and got rid of the over spray, but today i noticed when i got in the car that in fact they must have had the door off at some point as they have damaged my trim, which you are meant to push off from behind, not stick a screw driver in from in front, so either they tried to get the door off and could not, or they managed it in the end and still managed to over spray my car,

Not sure if its even worth going back to them to complain, its a right pain in the ass doing a 40minute each way journey :/

What would you do? just leave it and not say anything, or get them to replace the handle?
