Hey guys,

Long time since I've posted. I'll try make this as quick as possible. I've just returned from Ibiza for a lads holiday where I had the best 5 nights of my whole life. (quite literally)

I work in London, work in a field I love (film) get paid reasonably well for my age but work long hours, every day is intense and find myself often becoming pretty miserable.

I often ask myself, why live in England when you can pack-up and move elsewhere and essentially be undoubtably happier...

I realise I was on holiday whilst in Ibiza and not working but the location, the sunshine, the lackadaisical attitude and carefree lifestyle is so much more appealing to me.

Has anyone else ever been tempted to jump ship and re-locate to somewhere you think is more suitable for you as a person? I'm sure there are lots of people here who love the non-stop vibe of London but the dreadful weather and the constant gogogo most definitely aren't for me.

I'm not saying I'm not motivated or don't want to be successful but being in an office all day in London just doesn't quite cut it for me. I'd take being happy and earning 30/35k over earning 50k and being glum for the majority of the time.

Ever crossed your mind? :)

I imagine pretty much anyone who has ever moved town/city/region or emigrated?

I did when I moved back from the cess-pit of London out here to the sticks!

What would you do there? And don't you think you might bored after a couple of months (particularly as I assume the lads aren't gonna move there with you)?

Sounds like you need a different job to me. Have you considered tv over a film? Less money and less fun but assuming you pick the job well it's less frantic (and better hours). Obviously it depends on what sort of tv, I'm generalising.

It is the grind and working towards something that makes the eventual holiday so enjoyable.

Key difference is you work in the UK, you went on holiday to Ibiza. If you had to work long hours there I imagine you would soon get sick of it or at least not be quite as happy as you presume.

I moved to Vancouver 5 months ago. It's an amazing city. But if I'm honest, Monday to Friday, it's the same ****. I actually preferred my job back in the UK, although I'm earning more here.

If you move abroad to do the same work, chances are it'll be just that, the same. Obviously there are exceptions.

Having said that, moving here was a brilliant thing to do, and although we'll likely come home after a year, at least we did it.

But yeah, as above, probably just holiday blues.

I agree with everyone above me, holiday blues. Always nice for month or two, but any longer you feel the stress.

I moved to Berlin 2 weeks ago. I live in the equivalent of Shoreditch in a shared house, massive room bigger than my whole flat in London, all bills £380 a month.

Beer is £7.50 for 20 x 500ml bottles, Pizza £3. I can get a kebab for £1!!

The UK is crap, you think it is because it is. You can buy a 3 bedroom flat in the centre of Leipzig for 45k.

In the UK you work your whole life to pay off a mortgage on an over priced house. I said enough was enough and made the change. Only you can do it.

It's only been 2 weeks, give it 2 years and you'll see both sides of the coin.
