A while yet. I'd expect you to run short of vram before you run out of gpu grunt.

2Gb VRAM..... So this Xmas coming.... Depends on how much memory ports of next generation console games use.

I would think unless you are gaming at very high resolutions that your 690 will last you for 12-18 months at least.
