Has anyone got one of these? Or had experience with them?

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Anker-20000...d=1376896926&sr=1-1&keywords=anker+astro+pro2

I'm looking into it as I will be spending a lot of time camping/on the road for a month solid (North to South Vietnam motorbike ride) and would like to have something to charge my camera/phone/Nexus 7 2 with if out in the sticks in a tent.

Using Ankers math for the amount of charges per device. These are what I can get for my devices (only one using the Anker, not a mix).

anker capacity * 0.7 / device capacity
eg: 20,000 * 0.7 / 3950 = 3.5 charges

Sony RX100 - 11 charges
HTC Desire - 10 charges
Nexy 7 2013 - 3.5 charges

Thoughts?

My thoughts.

For that price, there is hope that it genuinely is close to 20Ah's. I would really search out reviews though that have measured the capacity, and how many charges people are getting.

It'll be Chinese batteries most likely, so rated capacity will likely be lower, but there are exceptions to the rule.

The 20Ah will MOST LIKELY be @ 3.7v's and not @ 5v's. So you need to factor the drop in Ah due to the conversion from 3.7 (voltage of battery) to 5v (voltage of output). Of course, it MIGHT have a higher voltage battery than 3.7V but I highly doubt it, it wouldn't be economic.

No expert but I have a 5000mah lipo battery (no fancy casing etc) which is a shade over 1000g. Pretty special if they've squeezed 20k in into 562g

Also, lipos don't like heat. If you get one make sure it's not in direct sunlight on your backpack :D

I have one of the Anker 10,000maH batteries, and it is very good - get a couple of charges of my HO out of it, as well as a charge or so for my Vita and Sony smartwatch - that is reasonable in terms of getting towards nominal capacity, I would say

Well, size and weight play a big factor in my choice and as a result, I will pay premium for those to be lower than cheaper stuff.

I have read some reviews and it's all sounding good! Bar one thing, the recharge time. It might be too long for me. I also don't know if I will be able to charge it whilst charging other things. Which would be amazingly handy. Only need for one plug then!

It's a big battery it will take a long time to charge. If you need a shorter charge time, then get two smaller batteries. This will also give you some redundancy in case one breaks.

Don't try to get a lighter unit to save weight, as a heavy battery is normally a better battery. Obviously LiPo is much lighter than li-on though.

Yeah I'm going to get the 10,000mAh version as well. Currently on £25, popped it on my Amazon wish list as my birthday is just around the corner. The reviews are saying that these battery packs are 70% efficient, so with it being effective 7,000mAh, I'll still get about 4 charges off it on my Galaxy SII. You guys won't believe how often I still get power cuts. Had 2 this summer alone!!

Can't speak for other models, but my 10,000mah Anker allows charging whilst being charged - has dual USB outputs, putting out up to 2A; I just had a weekend abroad so it came in handy for not needing Euro adapters for various devices chargers.....also, when it was charging (with an Euro adapter, natch) it was happily charging my Vita and HO. Obviously, this meant it was not gaining much charge, but it was still pulling in more than it was outputting.

Well the 10,000mAh could be more than enough if it allows charging whilst plugged in. As that means every few nights I just plug that in with all other devices plugged in over night.

With 10,000mAh I could get a full N7 charge and 1 or 2 charges for both the camera and phone... Much cheaper as well.

And less time to charge...

I have an Anker replacement battery for my Galaxy Note and it seems to be very good quality. The packaging and delivery were excellent too, tracked the whole way from China and only took a couple of days.

With regards to a 20,000mAh cell, thats a big battery!!
