I'm trying to get infinity/fibre installed to my new flat which I move into at the beginning of next month, I've just spent all day today trying to get to the bottom of why skys fibre install system wouldn't allow me any weekend installs, each time you try it throws you back to the beginning, so after two attempts to get it sorted by phone and numerous by web I decided I would bite the bullet and pay the extra for BT infinity. I placed my order after speaking to a lady on the live chat who assured me that Saturday installations were possible and that I had to ring the customer service line to get it changed to a Saturday. Then after being hung up by a call centre in India and then being on hold for the best part of an hour and a half I finally found out that BT wouldn't do a Saturday install, no matter what their live chat support told me.
I decided to try sky again, and spoke to a nice girl on customer service who called up their own provisioning's team to find out what was going on with the website, who then was told that Openreach is no longer doing weekend installations, and that anyone who has one booked now is being advised that they will be moved to the Monday after the weekend.
So now, being a teacher and being unable to take time off during the week, and with my partner being a solicitor and being in court most days of the week (and not knowing in advance when those dates are), we are going to be stuck without internet until the earliest of the end of October.
I'm disgusted that BT have removed this option for people who genuinely need it, and I'm annoyed that I had to find out through sky that Saturday installations were taken away.
My options now are:
* BT Broadband at 0.9-1.2 Mbps
* 3G Wifi router
* Wait till half term to get an installation done.
Is there any other provider who doesn't use BT Openreach to connect the line for fibre?
