Do you eat your food in layers?

I only do this with pukka pies - peel off lid fold it in half then scoff it, eat contents with chips etc, then when the pie case is finally empty, I flatten it and munch on its own.

Pukka Pie pastry is divine.

I don't go all ocd about it though.

Main meals yes, always have done. I don't as far as seperating pies but say pie, chips and peas I would eat all the peas, then all the chips then the pie. Roast dinners generally go cabbage, carrots, peas, potatoes (boiled, mashed, roasted - in that order) then meat.

I do it with some chocolate too, like Twix (bite the caramel off the top then eat the biscuit) and double deckers (bite off all the chocolate biscuit bit then eat the nommy chewy nougart bit).

My gf does it, and she is getting worse! Honestly, it doesn't bother me but I do sometimes find myself watching her eat, which annoys her :D

For instance, a Sunday roast will be eaten foodstuff by foodstuff, nothing mixed. A multi layered chocolate bar, will have its chocolate stripped off the top, then each layer eaten individually. A corned beef pastie gets its pastry taken off the top, then the filling eaten, then the bottom layer of pastry and so on for pretty much any kind of meal you can easily take apart.

The weird thing is, something like curry she will mix in and eat together. It's obviously an OCD thing over certain foods which can be easily split.

So, is my gf alone in the universe doing this or anyone else want to fess up to this strange eating practice?

I always eat my all my meals one product at a time. Leaving the meat until last.

I thought everyone does?

My sister hates her food touching. She eats it in no specific order, but everything is taken in individual mouthfuls and cannot touch anything else. Its a running joke in our family and has resulted in here being given more than a few kids and army style segmented plates :D.

I mix my food, but I'm a bit anal about keeping it neat. I tend to eat across the plate in one direction too, cleaning up as I go. Things that are solid get cut up neatly too.

my ex used to ask why I studied my food as I ate..

made me watch to punch her in the face as she must have been studying me to notice I look at my food when I eat..

I thought it was normal to look at your plate but I guess some people stab blindly with their fork
Perhaps you were holding it aloft on a fork and stroking your chin while observing it through the corners of your eyes.

This thread reminded of a scene from the Robin Williams movie, Toys :D

Patrick Zevo: I can't even eat. The food keeps touching. I like military plates, I'm a military man, I want a military meal. I want my string beans to be quarantined! I like a little fortress around my mashed potatoes so the meatloaf doesn't invade my mashed potatoes and cause mixing in my plate! I HATE IT when food touches! I'm a military man, you understand that? And don't let your food touch either, please?

Depends what the food is, things like a roast dinner I'll tend to mix up, but others I'll eat in order of my least favourite.

I don't venture into the totally weird though and eat pies/pasties/chocolate in layers, freaks!

I used to eat Tunnocks teacakes in layers. Used to carefully eat off the outer chocolate layer. Then lick all the marshmallow off, and finally eat the biscuit base :D
