Guardian are saying £10m...

Louise Taylor, who covers Newcastle for us, confirms that Arsenal have had a £10m bid for Yohan Cabaye rejected. French midfielder has three years left on contract. Full story soon here at the Guardian.

Haha I don't know who's worse, Moyes or Wenger?!

LOL Arsenal have just made a bid for Cabaye of Newcastle, just being reported on SSN now. Again no idea if he is any good, any Newcastle fans want to chime in??..panic buying now!!!111!!!

Panic buying, hes been reported to have interest in him from Man U and PSG, I somehow dont think it would be a panic buy, should really pay attention to other teams in the same division as yours as hes been around a couple of seasons now

I would get banned if I stated how he played that season!!!

He didn't play badly whenever I saw him, but I've no idea what Pardew was doing lining up the midfielders the way he did. He had Cabaye much deeper than the previous season, and having a deep playmaker often works perfectly well, he played him behind Tiote and sometimes even Perch, so naturally as soon as the ball went beyond Cabaye, play broke down.

I think Cabaye himself had an OK season, probably the best Newcastle player, but that's not saying much at all.

He's certainly not the player Arsenal need. The midfielder they need is a hard hitter - someone to give a bit of steel to the middle of the park - dare I say it - Fellaini. I'd argue they need defenders and a keeper more than a rival for Arteta.

Just as i thought our bid rejected for Cabaye lol...such an utter farce it is down at Arsenal. Whoever it is that is making these bids for players needs to be shot repeatedly and if its Wenger then **** me, he really has gone senile :/

As for people ripping me about not knowing enough about Cabaye???...geezus christ on a stick:eek:. I asked a simple question about whether he is good or is he another Santos??. I dont know much about him because whenever he has played against us, he hasnt exactly stood out for me.

Must be joking? Cabaye had a rotten season. Looked overweight always picking up injuries. His passing was poor. Did score a couple of screamers.

Best newcastle player was Santon. He did have one little blip.

12M? Haha, you've gotta love Wenger. Also Tiote isn't a better fit for anyone. He's lucky to even be playing in the PL, yet alone starting every game.

There was no best player for Newcastle last season. Cabaye is class and he'd do we'll under a competent manager who'll play him in the right position.

The way I look at it is who would Fergie buy... Baines yes, but Fellaini not so much which is why United went after Fabregas first and not when Fellaini had an active release clause.
I think we should have thought about buying two midfielders to give us some competition in midfield. Don't get this Fellaini OR Thiago OR Fabregas thinking that seems to be coming from Utd.

But I think Moyes would prefer Fellaini more than Baines, it's obvious what they're doing though. Next week they'll bid £20m, that'll be rejected, few days later they'll match the old release clause and that'll be rejected and Fellaini will hand in a transfer request and he'll be gone.
Yes. I do find it amusing that seeing as Fergie could never find a decent midfielder at a fair price, all Moyes had to do to help his standing was to spend big on a midfielder. Like Fabregas! :p

Any team as destroyed by injuries and team lineup changes as Newcastle ALWAYS perform that badly and all players end up looking like crap. Vermaelen is a good player but when he was covering for Mert's mistakes everyone acted like they were Vermaelen's mistakes(usually they weren't, of course he made some). Against City last season Verm single handedly kept the scoreline down from a complete thrashing with our other defenders completely and utterly absymal in that game leaving them bags of room in behind.

Tiote and Cabaye are good players, the situation was just terrible at Newcastle last season, given a couple months with few/no injuries and a settled lineup the same players should get back in form again... will they be given a chance before everyone turns on them and ups the pressure... maybe not.

I'd be happier with Tiote than Cabaye, he's more what we need and I think has the potential to be a better DM than Cabaye can be an CM/ACM.

Ultimately Wilshire if he can get fit again and some form is much the better player than Cabaye, Santi we'll have to see, loads of players (most) go downhill after the first season, but Santi last year was better than Cabaye the year before.

Tiote would walk in as first team at DM no matter who is fit, Cabaye would only play when Santi/Wilshire weren't fit, so Tiote would be more valuable to us. £10 mil offer though... lol.

Cabaye is a good player, and would be a nice addition to the squad no doubt, but there are more important players tbh. Unless he plans on using cabaye in the middle, cazorla out wide and Podolski up top? Still not the most important though IMO.

That's pretty much my thoughts. You could prob get Tiote for 15m mark.

I really think newcastle we have a good season also with everyone fit and a decent preseason under their belt.

^^^LOL:D

Arsenal might as well call it a day with transfers, i cant see us getting anyone decent or good enough before the window closes and if we do then we will have to pay through our nose for players.

So other than Cabaye, who else i wonder Arsenal are after...running out of options quick. Still stand by what i said a few pages back, if we are bidding for £40mill or so for Suarez then why the hell dont we test Utds resolve regarding Rooney...pretty sure if we bid £40mill+ for Rooney, Utd would take notice at least even if they werent interested in selling him to us.

Its turning into supermarket sweep! Quick throw as many as players as possible into the trolley! No, I don't care who they are, as long as the trolley is full by the time we get to the checkout.

Apparently we're considering putting a £20m bid in for Pogba, and will try and go for Michu.

Wenger needs to start looking at Serie A tbh, their's plenty of talent over there which is considerably cheaper then premiership equivalents.

Vidal would cost big money but he's worth it.

Hernanes would be a cheaper option.

Lamela up front.

You could easily get all 3 with your 70 million.

Dammit Arsenal put a £40mill bid towards Utd for Rooney!!!!, honestly he is exactly the type of player we need. The worst that can happen is Utd say no, ok then up it to £50mill and see what happens. Geezus we havent got anything to lose now have we??. Pretty much a laughing stock in the transfer window now :/

This summer has been embarrassing for Arsenal and Arsenal fans....

well when you supposedly have the biggest budget and have spent £0 and not been close to signing anyone of note, then Wenger has to go tbh.

Unless you really think 4th is your place and you will be able to maintain that with all of Spur's signings.

Well i think the biggest mistake we have made this summer, other than trying to get Suarez is that we announced we had £70mill to spend. So now teams that are looking to sell their players onto us are now jacking up the price on their players. Its a pretty bad situation we are in coupled with the fact that come Wed we will only have 9 fully fit first team players :/.

Highly unlikely we will get 4th this season especially as Spurs have strengthened and if they keep hold of Bale then they will look mighty strong. Spurs have made Arsenal look like complete muppets in the transfer window this summer.
