GeForce GTX 770 - Asus or EVGA?

I'm looking at either getting the Asus GeForce GTX 770 DirectCU OC or the EVGA GeForce GTX 770 Superclock ACX for single GPU gaming at 1080p as my ageing ati 5850 is starting to get a bit louder and hotter over the past year.

I know the Asus is meant to be cooler and a bit quieter and the EVGA has a higher stock clock, however is the Asus actually noticeably quieter or is the EVGA better overall?

I have a nice quite case with my Noctua NH-D14 so don't want to make it much louder and they are both around the same price so just need to pick one of them! Which one would people recommend?

Also, I'm using a 650D case in the standard fan configuration, after reading about the ACX cooling vents the air into the case, I presume the airflow won't be a problem as it's only a single fan out at the back by the CPU?

Many thanks.

I would get this 770 if i was getting one

YOUR BASKET
1 x MSI Geforce GTX 770 Lightning 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £359.99
Total : £371.39 (includes shipping : £9.50).

But a wiser person would get this

YOUR BASKET
1 x Asus GeForce GTX 670 DirectCU II OC Gamer 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card **FREE SHIPPING** £197.99
Total : £197.99 (includes shipping : FREE).

Not that far behind in performance, runs quiet

More importantly saves you nearly £140

But if it's between the 2 you listed - EVGA everytime

Thanks, I shall look into the MSI Lightning, I just got the impression people seem to be turning away from MSI at the moment. I’m looking for a new card to last me a few years and is generally good on the Cryengine so was looking at an Nvidia card of some sort.

On the 670, it is very tempting but the 770 is a faster and quieter card and so I think would be better in the long run to consistently deliver high frame rates.

The 770 lightning is the fastest 770 out there. It's a killer card. I love mine:D

I would just a get a 670 or 680. The 770 is only an overclocked 680 anyway. Save yourself £100 to be honest. OCUK will probably do the MSI 680 PE again for £260 at some point soon and that is just a lightning anyway apparently.

I'm finally about to get the MSI Geforce GTX 770 Lightning as I want something fast but quiet.

I have a 6 year old Corsair HX 620 psu with an overclocked i7 2600k which should be ok, however as it's 6 years old would anyone recommend I get a new one? e.g. a Corsair 850w.

Nice choice mate:D

Your PSU is old, but if your worried I would think about getting a new one. If in the future you want to add another and go SLI a corsair 850w would be good. Gold rating at least.

I've been wanting to upgrade my GPU for ages - was tempted with the current 670/680 deals but I've decided to wait for the new AMD cards to come out

I'm satisfying my wait time by playing a number of Steam Games I've bought that I've not played - the ones (all of them- not sure why I'm upgrading lol) - that run fine on my OC'd 570

Regarding noise I can assure you that the Asus DC2 Solution and the MSI are the best. On the contrary EVGA even with the ACX Solution is not considered the most silent.
